The sophomore album Intersections followed after another two long years of touring, marking a refocus of Into It. Over It.'s sound from pop punk-oriented songs to a more instrumentally broad, indie-centric approach. With a new live lineup to match the sonic shift, Into It. Over It. went out on the road again and appeared not only on long headlining tours, but also large festivals such as Lollapalooza and Riot Fest. Between the never-ending string of full band and solo shows that Evan is perpetually caught on, work on the third Into It. Over It. album has begun with a January 2015 writing session, entailing Evan and Into It. Over It.'s current drummer Josh Sparks being holled up in a cabin for thirty days. Since the fifth grade, Evan spent many years writing, recording and touring in bands. His first band was The Progress, formed with his grade school friends. Evan was a bass player in many of his early bands as a result of losing a coin toss with the other members of The Progress to decide who would play guitar in the band. Prior to the initiation of Into It. Over It., Evan was also in Damiera, Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start, Labour, Map the Growth,, The Funeral Bird, Hiroshima Mon'Amour, Sleeper Agents, The French Connection, Emergency and Forgive Her Choke Her. More recently, Evan has spent his time off from Into It. Over It. in Stay Ahead of the Weather with the other members of Into It. Over It.'s first touring lineup, Pet Symmetry with members of Dowsing, and Their / They're / There with Matthew Frank of Loose Lips Sink Ships and Mike Kinsella of Owen.

It makes you wonder what you need all that carpet for
Leaving the patterns of your evenings beneath your feet
Existing on repeat
Faced to the glass from the inside looking out
A window's view from the inside looking down
Hiding your health from those around the house
I made sure you were sedated
Agreed to carry you across town
Imagine you like new
Nodding off to the hum of a false alarm
I'm too uptight to believe half the things I hear
I'll spend a trip to intensive care
A waiting room with patients wearing thing
Breathe out and breathe in, prescribe a prescription
Favor and Fiction
I made sure you were sedated
Agreed to carry you across town
Imagine you like new
Nodding off to the hum of a false alarm
The song "Favor & Fiction" by Into It. Over It. explores the themes of anxiety, caregiving, and the struggles of one's own mental health. The opening lines describe a mundane act of measuring miles across the floor and questioning the need for so much carpet, highlighting the monotony and routine that one might feel in their daily life. The repetitive nature of existence is further emphasized by the line "Existing on repeat."
The second verse delves deeper into the singer's struggles, describing them as being physically trapped inside while looking out through a window, hiding their health from others. The line "The king and his crown, but the crown's hanging upside down" suggests a loss of control and a feeling of being unable to fulfill one's responsibilities. The chorus repeats the line "I made sure you were sedated," possibly referring to the singer taking care of someone else's needs instead of their own.
The third verse touches on the singer's skepticism of what they hear and their willingness to go to extreme lengths for their beliefs. The line "A waiting room with patients wearing thin" depicts a sense of hopelessness and desperation. The final line "Favor and Fiction" ties back to the theme of the singer's struggles with anxiety, suggesting that the favors they do for others and the stories they tell themselves might not be entirely truthful.
Overall, "Favor & Fiction" is a relatable and introspective exploration of mental health struggles, anxiety, and the challenges of caregiving.
