Whatever
Ivan & the Parazol Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey, you always stand on the street
Waiting for the last bus to leave
The birds are singing the song of the sun
you know that this night is gone.

Change your shirt from black to white
call your friends and tell 'em you're all right
the birds are singing the song of the sun
you know, that this night's gone!

Whatever happens in London, stays in London
Whatever happens in London, stays in London.

Wo wo
I can hear them rollin’
Wo wo
With a sound so sweet
wo wo
all night long
wo wo

Hey you always stand on the street
Waiting for the last bus to leave
the birds are singing the song of the sun
you know that this night is gone.

Whatever happen is London, stays in London.
Whatever happens in London stays in London!

Wo wo
With a sound so sweet
wo wo
I can hear them rollin’
wo wo
well we’re movin’ down
wo wo
Ah come on
wo wo.
Do the sound, it’s so sweet
Wo wo
I can hear them rollin’
Wo wo

Every day and night
Wo wo

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Whatever" by Ivan & the Parazol tell the story of a night of freedom and letting go. The singer is waiting for the last bus to leave, signaling the end of the night, while the birds sing the song of the sun, symbolizing the arrival of a new day. This setting captures a sense of transition from darkness to light, from night to day, reflecting a change in the singer's mindset.

The mention of changing the shirt from black to white could signify a shift in emotions or intentions, as if the character is turning a new leaf or leaving behind past worries. Calling friends and letting them know that everything is alright suggests a sense of reassurance and connection during a transformative moment. The repetition of the birds singing the song of the sun reinforces the theme of renewal and starting anew after a night of change.

The chorus, "Whatever happens in London, stays in London," suggests a sense of spontaneity and letting loose without worrying about consequences. London here serves as a metaphor for a place where anything can happen, a city of adventure and liberation. The repetition of this line emphasizes the idea of embracing the moment and not dwelling on the past or fearing the future.

The energetic and repetitive "wo wo" sections in the lyrics create a sense of motion and rhythm, mirroring the feeling of movement and momentum in the night. The singer seems to be caught up in the thrill of the night, with the music rolling and the sound so sweet, capturing the euphoria and excitement of the moment. The song ends with a call to action, urging the listener to embrace the sound and the experience, encapsulating the carefree spirit of the night.

@cinemamado

Stones feelingem van :)

@sean22noon

At last, ohhhh . . . No more Laszlo Des and similar soap-opera, but real music. Elore!!!
