The opening lines of "Bøn Om Ending Bøn Om Byrjing" conjure images of a desolate and barren landscape where the last flower has bloomed and the last source of water has dried up. Chains crumble, laughter rings out, and poison drips from the mouths of snakes. Love is quashed by flames from the South, and death's nail scrapes at the forehead. We are urged to fight for what we believe in and to let our echo reverberate through time.
The song then moves into a section where it speaks of the land's decay and the starving livestock. The lyrics implore the breaking of chains and the revitalization of the earth's fields. The final lines reiterate that we must discard the power that clouds our hearts, acknowledging that we must awaken to a new reality and begin anew. The repetition of the phrase "På ny" (anew or again) at the end emphasizes the idea of starting all over again.
