I am in my thirties and Jab Jab was a BIG thing for Jouvert when I was growing up. In fact our mas in TnT involved mud, oil, paint, powder basically anything that can get you dirty. There are some unfortunate and misinformed comments here. Just think about it for a minute, what is used to play Jab Jab???? Wouldn't it be reasonable to think TnT has been doing this long before as well?... Anyway I had the pleasure of going to Spice Mas in 2015. It was a one of a kind experience. I hope I can go back next year.

Jab Jab has been part of T&T carnival since Slavery Days and Emancipation. Its one of the many tradition forms of mas that has been kept alive in T&T and Grenada and a few of the other islands. Tallpree and Grenada don't own Jab Jab. Big-up to Iwer for a nice song and music video.

soca phd it took a grenadian to make caribbean and the mtropole to reconize and appreciate the jab jab section in soca music . Iwer is a boss but he lacks creativity , and always have two lines in a verse in which he calls a song . Trinidad steals everything , Sparrow who is grenadian born and even URIA bUTLER . Learn your history !!! 473 Grenada to the world atleast we can peacefully walk around without people trying to kill us everyday.

If jab jab has been apart of Trinidad carnival , why is it now y'all start playing jab jab ? Trinidad is about moco-jumbie and grenada is about jab jab ..from ever since going to Trinidad in the early 80's Trinidad didnt kno much about jab jab ,it was more about moco jumbie .. Gnell John the truth of the matter because Trini is so diverse in culture they feel they own everything. Just now we'll hear nutmeg was exported as their main crop and they are the true spice island of the west indies. Let them continue to steal our things and promote as their own. some of allyuh real dotish, and need to study your culture. Trinidad didn't event carnival nor J'Ouvert. Neither did Grenada. Carnival came to us from the French settlers. They went to Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia , Grenada, Vincy. Many of them left Grenada and went to Trinidad. Each island they went to they brought their carnival culture. We all have the similar influence with our African rituals added. We all had canboulay, stick fighting, chantuelles etc. The biggest difference is Trinidad took the culture to another level, plus the invention of the steel pan. So yes many islands adopted a Trinidad style carnival with calypso monarch, panorama, etc. But carnival was brought to us all by the French, that is why Jamaica doesn't have a true carnival, they have no Roman catholic, French influences. Stop the stupid arguments and embrace our rich history.

Iwer used some scenes in his video to promote Grenada and so you react? Some of the scenes were also from Trinidad. And btw don't fool yuhself as Jab Jab is not exclusive to Grenada, you guys are simply obsessed with it and have taken it to another level, that is all. We have had the Jab Jab tradition going in T&T since slavery days and that includes in Tobago as well and and not just in Trinidad.

Some schooling for my spice island crew here trini aint steal jab jab or now start playing jab jab a nd jab molassie mass again these characters have been apart of trini carnival from the start of carnival by the ex-slave from sugar cane plantations. To my friend kevin it was molasses they used to get the black color and the jab jab was the colorful devil mas and jab molassie the black or dark mass ...so again you all didn't invent this shit ....it has aways been in trini carnival we just do we thing bigger.

Jab didn't start with molasses. It started with charcoal. Molasses wasn't dark enough.

As Brentford said the first Jab/Devil mas played by the slaves used molasses that was readily available to the slaves produced from the sugar cane refining process. The use of tar and oil in Trinidad and charcoal in Grenada came afterwards as Jab Jab mas evolved.

Donald James "CARIBBEAN ISLANDS ONLY" I'm Not crazy. I guess because I have been to over 25 countries on 4 continents working and I will like to turn on the radio and hear SOCA I am crazy. How do you begin explaining what's a JAB JAB in a room of people that know nothing about soca music and be look as "CRAZY" I'm going to Gold Coast and Townsville Australia next month to work. I never hear it in the clubs or on radio out there. I just want we thing really out for the world... Bless

Donald James I wonder if you realised that Machel sung his first Jab Jab soca tune in 1998 called Jambolassie which came out before Tallpree hit the scene with his first Jab Jab soca hit called "Old Woman Alone"? You need to do some research Donald. Many Trini artists were doing Jab Jab soca before Tallpree hit the scene including Penguin, Shadow, Superblue and others. The Grenadians have just become more obsessed with Jab Jab soca than the Trinis, that is all.

If you know your caribbean history well you would know carnival and jab jab etc came from french origin. Tell me what about Trinidad had french origin ? .I can surely tell you the french settled in Grenada for a while before the british took over . Hence the origin of carnival please go back in UWI and do your research ,
