Sometimes I feel like I am loosing my mind
Look back and forth
I try not to read between the lines
But I can't seem to follow my own advice
Goin' in circles baby, I guess that's just my life
Oh no, I feel it coming again
It's a matter of time before it starts kicking in
Maybe this time, I'll try and not let it win
I always feel like I am losing my mind
If anyone asks me, I say that I'm fine
Oh fuck, I think I might be losing my mind
I can't describe it, it's just my way of life
I always tend to take it to the extreme
And I don't listen to anyone but me
Sometimes I will attempt to shut it all down
But then it starts again the next time around
Oh no, I feel it coming again
It's a matter of time before it starts kicking in
Oh no, I feel it coming again
Maybe this time, I'll try and not let it win
I always feel like I am losing my mind
If anyone asks me, I say that I'm fine
Oh fuck, I think I might be losing my mind
I can't describe it, it's just my way of life
I know that I won't feel like this everyday
I'm always wishing it'll all go away
Next time I'll try and follow my own advice
For now I'll let it out, and I won't think twice
I always feel like I am losing my mind
If anyone asks me, I say that I'm fine
Oh fuck, I think I might be losing my mind
I can't describe it, it's just my way of life
I think I might be always losing my mind
I'm gonna keep on saying that I am fine
Oh fuck, I still think I am losing my mind
I hope that one day, it'll all say goodbye
In J. Cole's song "Carolina On My Mind," he tells a story of a girl so in love with a guy who doesn't reciprocate her feelings. She is willing to do everything to make him realize that she's the one, but he's too wrapped up and doesn't notice her. So, she decides to change her mind and no longer loves him. She's so over him and doesn't want to waste her time anymore. The lyrics express the pain of unrequited love and the decision to move on.
The song has a slow tempo that emphasizes the sadness and melancholy of the situation. J. Cole's voice is calm and soothing, conveying the emotions conveyed in the lyrics. The cameo of Kanye West at the beginning of the song sets the mood for the heartbreak theme. The instrumental is simple, with a soft piano melody that complements the song's mood.
