Nobody said that in the first place. Citing lack of priors is common practice. I think it's meant to speak to the fact that the defendant is not a "bad egg" and may have made a grave error that is "out of character." This is meant to mitigate the punishment.

I went to school with kids who did something very similar to this. The man didn't die, but was left in a vegetative state for the remainder of his life. His family are the ones who paid the cost. I have little sympathy for these boys.

I went to school with two rapists and a lot of violent kids who wanted to start a gang and were very lame. One of my buddies went to jail for stabbing our classmate in the tummy with a knife. This was between the ages of 11- 14 years old that I knew them. Don't ever think that a kid can't hurt you. They have less appreciation for the sanctity of human life. Our morals are a thing that is taught, and younger people have has less time for those morals to really become ingrained within them, and because of this they have many animalistic urges that adults have learned to ignore.

A friend of mine is 32 and they have 2 children. He had a rock thrown at his truck by foolish kids and thankfully the only harm was a ruined windshield of his outrageously expensive brand new truck. I’m pretty sure the kids weren’t expecting him to chase them on foot for 15 minutes and then report it to the police, but I hope they learned a lesson.

Here in Brazil it means a LOT unfortunately! The charge for killing a person is up to 30 years of prison and with a good behavior in jail the murderer could leave with 1/6 of the charge! That's why Brazil have the bigger crime rate in the world, about 60 thousand killed people per year.

Even accidental deaths and many of the comments show no compassion for the victim or their survival. Horrible comments, and you just know many of them are from young people. Who is raising these kids? Gen X'ers are raising these kids. This leads me back to the Baby Boomers that rejected all sense of morality they saw in TV shows and movies of the 60s and 70s. Pushed back on censorship of music and all other forms of entertainment, like video games. Then there is Trump. He made it okay for foul language in all spaces. Those news outlets that say Trump has mental and criminal beliefs, now repeat Trump's vulgar language almost on every program. So yes, I can believe all that I am seeing and hearing these days.

For me, this hits home. My friend and I were up on a hill throwing small stones down at a girls college, just seeing who could land one on the netball court. Someone reported us and we both received detention.

It makes me think of how young and foolish we were just playing games. But not knowing we could have injured someone.

This video makes my thank God that I could have been in a worse situation but have learnt my lesson.

The punishment for their brutality is really a cherry on the top. How fked up is the justice system? I recently lost my mother to cancer about 8 months back, and I haven't recovered yet. Yeah... it's court, haha. Reminding people in court that someone has no criminal record happens practically every day at cases. If you don't have any criminal record, it's gonna be brought up at some point. In many small cases, especially, it does matter if you've never gotten in trouble before and just made some small dumb mistake. This of course, isn't that though.

Three of them were given one year probation in January 2022, they were Mark Sekelsky, Trevor Gray, Mikadyn Payne.
One of them were released from prison in July 2022 after serving a year, it was Alexzander Miller.

So sad for everyone involved.
Those 4 children left to grow up without a father and these teens families left with the knowledge of what their kids did, as a mother it would break my heart to know one of my children would do this and also knowing a punishment is merit in this situation and seeing their lives be changed.
I truly hope everyone finds peace and that these teens truly repent and turn their lives around even if it is from prison.

No guilt, no shame, no consideration to anything or anyone. You at least have remorse and guilt will eat you until you learn to forgive yourself for whatever you may have done.If it taught you to be a better person, and it changed your life, use it as fuel to make life better in some way, shape or form. Wow, 5 years ago someone was throwing rocks over an overpass and it completely shattered my moon roof window! I was going 55 in heavy rush he traffic. My cousins did this when they were about 7-8 years old. I still remember the immense sense of trouble they were in. They were throwing rocks over trees onto a motorway. Luckily nothing happened and they learned from it.

Man I'm so blessed this never happened to me when I was young. We didn't realize the severity of what could happen from throwing rocks up on the over pass. Granted we threw small rocks not boulders. We were also a lot younger. Even being young (10-12) we knew something large could do real damage.
