Producer/songwriter Christian Berishaj was born in the greater Detroit area and quickly developed a fascination with music and performance. He started recording his own music at age 12 and by the time he was 18 he'd gone through various different bands and projects, including recording an album as Love Arcade on which he wrote and performed every sound. Love Arcade was eventually signed to Atlantic records, with a self-titled album on which Berishaj was the sole performer coming out in 2006. A touring band was assembled around the project but none of the members ever played on any recordings and the group broke up after three years. Following Love Arcade, Berishaj relocated to Los Angeles and worked briefly under the moniker Christian TV, licensing songs in various films and television and signing a deal with Universal Motown Records. The label folded and Berishaj again reconfigured, taking on the name JMSN and producing more R&B inspired music, taking a decided step away from the pop leanings of previous projects. He self-released his debut Priscilla in early 2012, earning high praise from press and his artistic contemporaries as well. He followed with the next year with the Pllaje EP and a lengthy tour. JMSN spent much of 2014 prepping his next full-length, The Blue Album. The Blue Album's release date was delayed but eventually saw release in late 2014. ~ Fred Thomas

Gotta have a sound
Gimme some Henny and a loosey
All a nigga really need
I'm tryna B like Michael Jordan all
Y'all niggas see is creed
If it happened in the Yak that mean
Somebody ask Obama is my niggas really free
Free from the Geto Boy
Ain't talkin' Willie D
When they start the revolution will he
Fight or will he flee?
Who me? It's in my DNA I'm
One of Rza killa bees
I'm one of Jiggas many seeds now
Put that on a Dilla beat silly me
I can't forget the one and only Kendall T
He provides the perfect backdrop for
This Ro Spit ministry
Alotta dudes be talkin' soundin'
Foolish in they speech
Really don't know what they saying
LikelmNOP bet on me, Heavenly
Standin' at the Devil's peak
About to jump off in a dump so
Did he push or did he reach
This shiny shit all in my face
I gotta have it Ed OG
Was finna take that last step but then
I heard a melody it goes
I'll have my mansion now baby I believe
I believe
Yeah, I believe yeah, I said I believe
I believe yeah
I'll have my mansion now baby I believe
I believe
Yeah, I believe yeah, I said I believe
I believe yeah
Although I can't remember words that
Shit embedded in my brain
I swear I'm Curry with the play I
Pray just put me in the game
I know these niggas soft and lame if
They just get me in their lane
I'll cut these niggas off smooth
(skirt skirt) feel their pain
I think it's plain to see that there
Is what I came to bring
It's alot of things that y'all make up
But y'all ain't Maybeline
I'm not for labeling y'all wavering
How they the king?
Me? I let these haters see my do
I move from A to Z they move from A to B
Kinda rugged I gracefully
Maneuver through space ya see these niggas
Can't get on pace wit me
Creatively my legacy will be that of a Bape
Supreme and you don't want a one on one to
Beat me it's gone take a team
Make a meme and you gone find
Out what we really on
I'll have my young'n pop up pop
A Glock then pop a wheelie, gone
Gettin' a couple dollars scorin'
In my indie zone
The one the labels said was hot but
They forgot to drop a milli on
Oh I admit I took a shot for major label fame
But what they want to get
Ya way in'sa major pain
I think it's safe to say that's nay
And I don't pay to play
However long I wait I choose my fate
I'll take it day to day
I'll have my mansion now baby I believe
I believe
Yeah, I believe yeah, I said I believe
I believe yeah
I'll have my mansion now baby I believe
I believe
Yeah, I believe yeah, I said I believe
I believe yeah i believe
No I believe i believe
I believe no I believe
Tell me do you believe? I said I believe
I said I believe i believe
I said I believe you need to believe yeah
I was a believer, you saw me smiling on
That billboard still drawn
Now I'm lifeless like a baby
When it's still born
Though I'm still torn between me
Dreamin' and the real goings
Feel like he the dealer cause nobody
Got a deal for him
Build and destroy I'm fillin' the void
I'm here wit my boys you real in Detroit
Yet still an employee the skill in my voice
Just isn't noise bitches get moist and
Got me in rooms wit
Eminem, Royce, Paul, Nauny
Can't nobody change my life but The Almighty
I done spit a couple bars
And left 'em all silent
Then left the stu dip with my
Boo and hit a small island
Chain swingin' and it's bling blingin'
Cause it's all diamonds
Last drop 80 doors maybe
More ain't no ceilings
So for now don't say we up, say we north
I heard they askin' why you
Ain't sign with Shady for?
Fuck a deal fam fam I was
Good with them Shady 4's
Babe boy stay the topic of ya conversation
I been waitin' patient for my space
And no I'm not debatin'
Old nigga wit golds
For young niggas that's goals
I be out the way and
Niggas always like to say
The lyrics to JMSN's song The One explore the singer's battle between fulfilling their personal desires and fulfilling their greater purpose in life. The recurring dream represents a yearning for a simpler life, but the realization that their purpose is bigger than that pulls them towards something greater. The singer understands that they must take control, be a man and fulfill their responsibilities independently, as no one else will do it for them.
The second half of the song touches upon the singer's past relationship, where they tried to explain to their partner what it takes to be a man. However, their partner was unable to comprehend, and the singer is left alone, tired of being lied to and holding broken bones. The singer acknowledges that they tried to understand what it takes to be a man, but ultimately nobody is going to hold their hand or waste their time. The repeated phrase "be a man" reinforces the internal struggle between following personal desires and fulfilling responsibilities.

I see it in the distance
There's something I want that is still far off and unclear
It's not a physical thing
It's intangible and not a concrete object
It's like this recurring dream
It feels like something I keep dreaming about
See see, I wanna get back to that, but
I'm hooked on that dream but I know I need to focus on my actual life
I know my life is much more
I understand that there is more to life than just that one dream
My purpose is much bigger than that
I am meant to do something greater than just chase after this one dream
I'mma have to do something bigger
I need to take action to achieve my larger purpose
So that's when I realized that
That's when I came to the conclusion that
I gotta be a man
I need to mature and take responsibility for my own life
I gotta take control
I need to take charge and steer my life in the right direction
I gotta step up
I need to step up and act on my responsibilities
Cause who's gonna do it for me?
No one else will take care of my life for me
I still think of you
I still have feelings for you
When I'm home alone
Especially when I'm alone in my thoughts
And it's a quarter to two
Late at night, when I can't sleep
I look at my phone
I check my phone for any messages from you
Now I know I'm not gonna die
I'm not going to let my feelings for you take over my life
Come on now, child
Let's be realistic here
You know I got too much pride
I have too much self-respect to keep chasing after someone who doesn't feel the same
Nobody's gonna change my mind
No one can persuade me otherwise
Nobody's gonna ask the reasons why
No one will question my choices
I tried to make you understand
I tried to get you to see things from my perspective
What it takes to be a man
What it means to be mature and take responsibility
All I seek is the truth
I only want honesty and sincerity
All I get is sticks and stones
All I receive are insults and hurtful words
So tell me, what do I do
What should I do in this situation?
With these broken bones?
With my shattered emotions?
Cause I've been walking for miles
I've been striving towards my goals for a long time now
You know I've heard too many lies
I've been deceived too many times before
Ain't trying to waste no more precious time
I don't want to waste any more valuable time on things that won't benefit me
Oh lord knows I tried to understand
I've done my best to comprehend
What it takes to be man
What is necessary to be mature and responsible
Be a man
Act like a mature individual
Be a man
Take ownership of your life
Be a man
Strive towards your goals
Be a man
Be honest and sincere
Nobody's gonna waste my time
I won't allow anyone to waste my time anymore
Don't you ever ask me why
You're not entitled to know the reasons for my choices

The One Explanation
“Crossin a line that don’t exist”
This video is about the boundaries we make. We’re afraid of change. We’re afraid of anything different. Perception of how thingsnshould be, becomes our reality.
Someone once told me we see other people for their actions, and ourselves as a projection of who we wanna be. Rather than face things as a whole, we base them around ourselves. Not sayin’ this is right or wrong its just what we do.
Everyone is beautiful. We’re all afraid of things we don’t understand. So we put up a wall; a defense mechanism. We tear down things we don’t understand, as if they’re wrong. Right and wrong is relative. To each their own.
This song is about wanting to find someone or something that could be the answer to all your problems, but questioning it; because deep down inside you know the only one that can solve the problems you have is yourself. When it comes down to it, you make the problems you have. Something is only a problem, if you decide to make it one. So you try to convince yourself that this person will be the answer, when you know deep down no one person is the answer.
You feel this spark. This drug sinks in and tells you “You’re perfect right here.”, but you slowly start to realize; anywhere you are…you’re still with yourself. You can’t get away from your problems, because you make your problems.
Bottom line: Things are only what you make them.
