The lyrics of Jah Vinci's song "Winning" reflect on how far the singer has come from his humble beginnings to achieving success in the music industry. The opening lines of the song are a reminiscence of the times when Jah Vinci struggled to make ends meet and could only afford one pair of pants and shoes. He acknowledges that his journey was not an easy one and required determination and hard work to achieve success.
The second verse highlights the tough times Jah Vinci faced in his early years, where he and his friends would go to the river to hang out and could only afford the bare necessities in life, such as a tin of mackerel or a pound of rice. Despite the difficult circumstances, Jah Vinci made a conscious decision to work towards building a better life for himself. He references a record label owner, Kyng Midas, who recognized his potential and signed him despite his rough beginnings.
The chorus of the song celebrates Jah Vinci's success and the fact that despite the obstacles he faced, he has prevailed. He credits his achievements to the presence of Jah in his life and believes that his faith in God has kept him grounded and protected him from envious individuals who could have betrayed him. The song exudes a sense of pride and gratitude, reflecting Jah Vinci's appreciation of his journey thus far and his optimism for the future.
