I really want this thing called
I really love this thing called
Love
Called
Love
Everybody wants this thing called
Everybody needs this thing called
Everybody loves this thing called
But do we really know this thing called
Everybody wants this thing called
This thing called
Everybody needs this thing called
But do we really know this thing called Love
Love is a beautiful thing, I know
But do we even know what it is for sure
Cause we just falling in and out of Love
See ain't nobody know what it means no more
See we don't really speak the language
Cause we don't really understand it
And I don't wanna act like I do no more
Been with girls that I like
Been with girls that I grew to love
See I've been with girls that ain't right
And I don't wanna lie but I didn't really care for the type
Feeding Lust and I called it Love
Till I finally saw the light
And now I've got to get this right
Everybody wants this thing called
Everybody needs this thing called
Everybody loves this thing called
But do we really know this thing called
Everybody wants this thing called
This thing called
Everybody needs this thing called
But do we really know this thing called Love
God is Love
So if He ain't in it you can call it Love
We try to replicate it but we fall short
Cause we can't give a Love that we don't know
Love is patient
Love is kind
I really hate to burst your bubble but Love ain't blind
Love is selfless
Love is pure
If that ain't the Love you know then I ain't sure it's Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
Everybody wants this thing called
Everybody needs this thing called
Everybody loves this thing called
But do we really know this thing called
Everybody wants this thing called
This thing called
Everybody needs this thing called
But do we really know this thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love
This thing called Love

Overall Meaning

James' song "Love Thing" explores the concept of love and questions whether we really understand what it is. The repetitive lyrics emphasize the importance of this thing called love, which everyone wants, needs and loves but may not fully comprehend. James begins by expressing his desire and love for this thing called Love, but wonders whether he really knows what it is. He suggests that people have trouble speaking the language of love because they don't truly understand it. James confesses that he has been with girls for different reasons, some of whom he genuinely loved and others he just called love. However, he now wants to get it right, to understand the true nature of love.

In the second verse, James suggests that God is Love, and if He is not present in our relationships, it cannot truly be love. He criticizes how people try to replicate love and fall short because they don't know what love really is. He goes on to describe what he believes love is: patient, kind, selfless, and pure. If one doesn't possess these qualities of love, James questions whether what we experience is really love.

Overall, James' "Love Thing" stresses the importance of understanding the nature of love in our lives, relationships and interactions with others. We should not only want it, need it and love it but should take time to reflect on what love is truly about.

I’m ashamed to admit that my knowledge of James is
completely limited to tv adverts. A few years ago I saw an advert and loved the
music so much that I went into my local HMV and asked them what the music was
for a particular advert and it turned out to be “She’s A Star”. So I bought
Whiplash, listened to it a few times and then forgot about it. Several years
later I saw an advert for the national lottery, thought the music was amazing,
had a kind of “epic” quality about it and I wanted to know who it was by. I
assumed it would be some new trendy group that I hadn’t heard of, so when I
discovered it was James I was pleasantly surprised because at least it was
someone I’d heard of. Watched the video on Youtube loads of times and totally
blown away. Brilliant song, brilliant video. Not surprised it was shot in
Ireland…only they can do that kind of rugged beauty. I might be wrong but I think
the tv head was a male who they switched for the last scenes. Absolutely love
the lead actress, interesting combination of fit /lesbo/chav, she would be
brilliant in one of the lead soaps. If you like emotive videos check out the crow, the owl and the dove by Nightwish.

Nothing but love gives the world some meaning
Nothing but love is the drug of healing
lover be soft
lover be bold
earthquake avalanche volcano

Nothing but love
I've got nothing but love

Nothing but love stops the mind from grinding
Nothing but love flushes hearts from hiding
Deeper we dive
Nowhere to hide
earthquake avalanche and (???>>["landslide" in live version"])

Nothing but love fills the hole I'm hiding
Nothing but love from the well we're drinking
into the highs
deal with the lows
earthquake avalanche volcano

for there's no answers only dancers
for love me now, i'll pay the cost

Nothing but love
I've got nothing but love
Nothing but, Nothing but love
I've got nothing but love
I've got nothing but love
Nothing but, Nothing but love
Nothing but love!

This band have never become mediocre. Their latest music is genius and beautiful. I’m so lucky to have grown up with this bands great music as a soundtrack. This song is lyrically poetic and musically stirs my heart and moves to the rhythm of it. Fantastic, there are few bands that can keep up such fantastic releases. Bowie was one of them, the Manic Street Preachers is another and Motörhead is one more. There are others but they are rare.
