Last I said I wanted you
A crooked smile played
Across your lips and you said
Damn all you men are just the same
It's been a longtime, that's granted
But i bet you havent changed
Okay yeah
In the years we spent together
I fell in love withyour honesty
You never told me that
Your sweet words were never meant to apply to me
It's been a long time, thats granted
But I bet you haven't changed
It's been a longtime,since I was okaaay
Okay, yeah
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la laaaaa
La la la la lala
You're so perfect
Put together
Liz your beauty is faultless
But what I thought was
Done for my eyes
Was really building a fortress
It's been a long time,that's granted
But I bet you're just the same
It's been along time since I was okaaay
Okay
It's been a long time
It's been a long time
Yeah
The song "Long Time" by James Marsters is a soulful expression of a painful experience of lost love and betrayal. In the first verse, the singer reminisces about a conversation he had with his ex-partner where she called out all men as the same. Though she gave a crooked smile when she said it, she was indicating that the singer was no different from all the other men. The singer then goes on to say that it has been a long time since they were okay.
In the second verse of the song, the singer reveals that during their time together, he fell in love with her honesty. However, he also realizes that all along, her sweet words of love were never meant for him. He expresses his frustration and hurt by repeating that it has been a long time since he was okay. The refrain of the song, "la la la," serves to emphasize the singer's pain and frustration.
Overall, the song is a poignant portrayal of how people can change over time, and the hurt that can come when we realize that someone we loved was not who we thought they were. The repetition of the phrase "It's been a long time since I was okay" emphasizes the depth of the singer's pain and the length of time that he has been carrying it.

This song proves how much of a soft voice I think he has, because even though i loved the songs he sang in BTVS none of them really showed his range, not like his own do.
