And I'm not the one who caught the bouquet
I am nowhere,
But some might say that this is somewhere
Showed up by coincidence,
Left no trace, no evidence at all
Denial is my preference
It's better if my conscience doesn't know
Run away, and stay away for quite some time
You'll find me walking on the other side
I have a completely different ticket to ride
I'm skin and bone, waiting on a train
I travel alone
Will we fall in love again? Time will show
No one knows
I'm thinking about the day,
When I'll se you in a subway hall
Will you recognize me,
And will you remember anything at all
And I know it's gonna rain that day
I pray for stormy weather
So I can see you waring my favorite sweater
And there's a seat right
Next to me, and it's still not taken
So, come on in, let's talk about it,
And start over again
The lyrics of Jan A.P. Kaczmarek's song "Berlin" speak of a painful breakup and the aftermath of it. The first verse talks about how the singer's relationship is over, and although they were present at the wedding where their ex-partner got married, they did not catch the bouquet. The singer reflects on their current state, saying that they are nowhere but others may argue that they are somewhere. This suggests that they are lost and unsure of their place in the world.
In the second verse, the singer reveals that they left without a trace and prefer to deny their feelings. The chorus talks about how they have moved on and are on a different path now. They are waiting for a train and wondering if their love will ever find them again.
The third verse is more optimistic, with the singer imagining a possible future encounter with their ex. They hope that they will be recognized, and that memories of their past relationship will return. They pray for a stormy day so they can see their ex wearing their favorite sweater. The final line of the song suggests that the singer is ready to start over again.
Overall, the lyrics of "Berlin" convey a sense of melancholy and longing for lost love. The singer is haunted by memories of their past relationship, but also hopeful for a second chance.
