At the age of 10 he recorded Jingles, and he learned to play guitar. Then, Vaquer became an actor in the Célia Helena Theatre, doing in 2000 the musical comedy "Cazas de Cazuza". After that Jay Vaquer came to daylight the same year with his first album "Nem Tão São" with the medium-size hit "A Miragem" ("The Mirage") and the second single "Aponta de um Iceberg". Strangely, the songs only reached respectable position on the MTV Brasil chart. But the radio stations seemed not to notice the success of the singles (probably a fault of his record label). This might have been the main reason why Jay's career didn't launch then.
Four years later, in 2004, Vaquer released his second album "Vendo A Mim Mesmo", and he got the attention of radio stations with the hit "Pode Agradecer" ("You May Thank Me"), which granted him brief fame. In 2005, Jay relased his third album "Você Não Me Conhece" with the hit singles "Cotidiano de um Casal Feliz" and "A Falta que a Falta Faz".
Nowadays, Jay Vaquer is working in his fourth album "Formidável Mundo Cão", was released in September 2007. On July 5, he premiered the first single of this production "Longe Aqui",in his official myspace.

Consumo e some também
O que me consola
Esmola não me faz bem
O que me atola
É lama que não sai, Dalai
O que me atura
Não dura, nem fica, nem vai
Passeia numa tarde nublada
O que me incendeia
Derruba essa porta fechada
O que me apaga
Alaga até pensamento
O que me assola
Decola no sopro do vento
O que me persegue
Não consegue ficar pra trás
O que me assusta
Se nada é um pouco mais
O que me domina
Controle não é paz
O que me fascina
Repele e tanto faz
O que me consome
Não dura, nem fica, nem vai
O que me consola
É lama que não sai, Dalai
O que me atola
Esmola não me faz bem
O que me atura
Consumo e some também
O que me chateia
Decola no sopro do vento
O que me incendeia
Alaga até pensamento
O que me apaga
Derruba essa porta fechada
O que me assola
Passeia numa tarde nublada...
The lyrics of Jay Vaquer's song Divã are a reflection of the artist's inner turmoil and struggle with himself. The song talks about what consumes him, consoles him, atola him (which means to sink in mud), chateia him (which means to annoy or bother), incendeia him (which means to ignite), apaga him (which means to extinguish or erase), assola him (which means to afflict or haunt), persegue him (which means to pursue), domina him (which means to dominate), and fascina him (which means to fascinate). It seems that all of these emotions and feelings are overwhelming him and he can't seem to find a way out of them. He mentions that what consumes him doesn't last, what consoles him is like sinking in mud, and what atola him only disappears momentarily.
The lyrics of Divã are poetic and introspective, describing the artist's profound thoughts and emotions. He speaks of the things that bother him, excite him, and trouble him, all in a series of contrasting images. The lyrics are metaphorical and abstract, making the meaning of the song open to interpretation. The song seems to be about the human condition and the struggle to find inner peace amidst overwhelming emotions.
