During her teenage years, she began composing songs. She taught herself guitar. Inspired by the sounds of artists like Tom Waits and Bob Dylan, Gloeckner spent hours in her spare bedroom-turned-recording studio creating her first album. "Most of the songs were written during the recording process," Jen recalls. "I had originally written five or six songs, most of which were scrapped and replaced with new ones." With encouragement from music industry pros like Aaron Jacoves (former A&R vice-president of Virgin, A&M, and Mercury Records) and Derek Birkett (MD One Little Indian Records), her debut album "Miles Away" was released through Spinning Head Records in 2004.

Keep moving your mountains over me
The lyrics to Jen Gloeckner's song "Mountains" refer to a sense of being overwhelmed by life's challenges, but finding strength in the support of another person. When the singer says "He's moving mountains over me," it's a metaphorical reference to the difficult obstacles that she's facing in her life, ones that are seemingly insurmountable. However, she finds comfort in the thought that the person she's addressing the song to is helping to lift those difficulties and making them more manageable.
The singer then repeats the line "Keep moving your mountains over me." This line signifies a desire for continued support from the person she's singing to. She feels that the help she's been given has been invaluable and wants it to continue. The repetition of these phrases demonstrates both a desire for help, but also a sense of gratitude and recognition for the assistance she's already been given.
Overall, the lyrics convey a message of hope and reliance on others during difficult times. The metaphors used in the song help to communicate the scale and magnitude of the issues at hand while showing that even these large obstacles can be overcome with the right support.
