Escape To Aspen
Jeremy Jay Lyrics

And make-up their face
And wear a pair of shorts and shirt
Dressed in red and white
Black sandals to shade
At the beach
I can bring a wicker basket
I'd wear a blue fur coat
While we ski down the slopes
In speed toboggans
Our hair wrestling back
At the speed of the sights
The cabins in the forest
At ski lodge imperial
Spotted on the skiing slopes
Our friends can have the others
While we have our own
We'll read stories up late
Red circles on your cheeks
The dark green velvet curtains 7
Around my bed
We can live in switzerland
While it's snowing outside
The bare brown trees
As the sparrow sings
It's winter song,
I'll dream of a story to tell
While you lay there in
Soft white sheets
The life of
The living dolls
The lyrics of Jeremy Jay's "Escape To Aspen" paints a dreamy, idyllic picture of a romantic getaway to the renowned skiing destination with his lover. The opening lines of the song illustrate how people in the bustling cities are preoccupied with their appearances, with lines like "They brush their hair all day, And make-up their face." The singer seems to find an escape from this superficial life in Aspen - a place where he can be himself and not worry about such vain things.
The song goes on to describe the couple's day at the beach, where they wear comfortable clothes, relax and enjoy each other's company. The singer seems to cherish this moment with his partner, as he suggests bringing a wicker basket to have a picnic together. The second verse takes the listener to a whole different world, as the singer envisions himself and his beloved skiing down the Aspen slopes in speed toboggans. The blue fur coat he wears is a stark contrast to the shorts and shirt he wore earlier at the beach. The lyrics create an image of two people enjoying their time together, with hair wrestling back at the speed of the sights.
In the last few lines of the song, the singer seems to want to prolong his time in Aspen with his lover. He describes the cabin in the forest at Ski Lodge Imperial where they will read stories up late and make memories together. The singer envisions himself staying in Switzerland while it snows outside, as he dreams of stories to tell his partner. The song ends with the phrase "The life of the living dolls," which could allude to how their life together in the snowy paradise feels like a magical one.
