Timothy, 'cause it's such a waste
Timothy, we found your spaceship
Timothy, it's the farthest you've ever flown
Never used your head
To find out what this whole thing meant
But it is
Timothy where have you been?
Timothy where have you been?
Timothy, where did you go?
Timothy, the boy can throw
Timothy, we found your spaceship
Timothy, did it hurt when you hit the ground
Never used your legs
To walk â??round in this whole big mess
It's not what it seems
But it is
Timothy where have you been?
She cried in the kitchen
To let you go
Timothy where have you been?
Missed your photo
Missed your birthday too
Missed your photo
It's not what is seems
But it is
Timothy where have you been?
She cried in the kitchen
To let you go
Timothy where have you been?
Missed your photo
Missed your birthday too
Missed your photo
Missed your birthday too.
The song "Timothy" by Jet tells a story of a mysterious disappearance of a man named Timothy who apparently left in a spaceship only to never return. The opening lines, "Timothy, I took your place, Timothy, 'cause it's such a waste," suggests that the singer assumed Timothy's role or identity after he vanished, possibly out of pity or remorse for not being able to help him. The following lines about finding Timothy's spaceship and how far he's ever flown indicate that Timothy might have been an adventurer, who lived life on the edge and took risks.
The chorus "It's not what it seems, but it is, Timothy where have you been?" hints that there might be more to Timothy's disappearance than what meets the eye. The lyrics imply that Timothy never used his head or his legs to figure out what was going on around him, which raises the possibility that he might have been reckless and impulsive. The lines "She cried in the kitchen, to let you go" suggest that someone close to Timothy, possibly a lover or a family member, was left behind and still grieving for him.
Overall, the song uses vivid imagery and a catchy tune to evoke a sense of mystery and confusion around the disappearance of Timothy. The lyrics leave much to interpretation and the story behind Timothy's disappearance can be interpreted in different ways depending on the listener's perspective.
