I may only be on chapter 40 but I’m sad and I have so much more to go just gotta be prepared when I watched the anime I thought it was fine nothing to bad but then they said nene was going to die so idk now

The name "Yashiro Nene", contains the kanji of "8" soooo... The theory a read it says that when Nene dies, she is going to be mystery number 8... That's it that is the theory, that is why when I read the traduction of the song I was Impacted, because then that theory would be the most right at this moment

Alright I have a theory (MANGA SPOILERS)
In the opening, it refers to "the eighth" then tracks back saying there is no eighth.
Thanks to the picture perfect arc, and Kou's suicidal actions, we already know that he is quite literally willing to die if that means Mitsuba not having to be alone forever. Now, in the chapters just before the red house arc, Kou mentions to Yashiro about a way to become a supernatural, then when Yashiro questions it, Kou immediately backtracks saying that it was nothing and he is simply curious. There's a possibility that Kou may be considering becoming a supernatural, and seeing if Yashiro was willing to do the same to see Hanako again.
So, here's my theory. Theres a chance that Kou ends up dying and becoming a supernatural to be by Mitsubas side. Word gets around and he end's up becoming known as School Mystery No.8, the exorcist who befriended a ghost and died because of it

Genres: Comedy, School, Shounen, Supernatural
Synopsis: "Hanako-san, Hanako-san...are you there?" At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school's Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls' bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom...but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy's Hanako-san...is a boy!
Please, don't put this off because of the title (the Japanese title is actually Earth-bound boy Hanako-kun). It's one of the best anime this season and the manga is a solid 9/10. The story is amazing and the cast is super likeable. It seems light hearted and fun at first, but trust me, it gets darker and darker as the story progresses. There are a lot of tearjerking moments, too, and the (subgenre) romance is written so well that pretty much the whole fandom ships the main two. Give the first three episodes a try. You won't regret it.
EDIT: I keep getting replies saying the title is actually Suicide boy Hanako-kun or Suicide Bomber Hanako-kun so let me explain. The title is 地縛少年花子くん in Japanese.
地 (ji) = earth
縛 (baku) = (to) bind
少年 (shounen) = boy/young man
花子くん = Hanako-kun
The title means Earth-bound boy Hanako-kun when literally translated.

SPOILER WARNING AHEAD:
Its not accurate but heres my analysis of the op uwu (also please keep in mind I made this at 2am)

- If you’ve seen the op it starts with Hanako-kun saying this and ends with his Little brother saying it.
- basically since the story revolves around these 7 mysteries and has “rumors” with them around the school
- keep note that the Hanako-kun grants wishes of the living
and Tsukasa (his brother) grants wishes for the dead (also they are pretty much polar opposites)
And well the two brothers, one which is hanako-kun the relatively “good” one gives off the most positive rumors and Tsukasa, well uhhh yk is Tsukasa :’))
So yeah I feel that their representation of them being polar opposites was within the op beginning and end

-also they’re probably “fighting” due to the fact that maybe the last mystery is someone who has different belief from them and went against them

At 02:12, the lyric states "Is it the first? *The eighth? Wait, there's no eighth.*" with a follow up lyric.
If you take a look at Yashiro's page on the TBHK wiki, in her trivia:
The kanji in Nene's surname translates to 'eight' (八); and 'to inquire, fathom, or look for' (尋).
In JSHK-themed playing cards, two silhouettes of tsueshiros are seen on the *eight of hearts*. A possible reference to that part of her name as she is on the Ace, Jack, Queen, and King of Hearts.
