Phillips got her start in a music career when she graduated from Belmont University in 1998. Her first, self-named album was produced by grammy-award winning Wayne Kirkpatrick who has produced for such artists as Amy Grant, Garth Brooks, and Susan Ashton. Kirkpatrick said that it was "the honesty of her [Phillips'] songs, the charm of her voice, and the strength of her character that drew me to her as an artist — I knew that being involved with someone like that would be time well spent." Following the release of first album, Phillips toured with Caedmon’s Call and Bebo Norman.
Soon Phillips made her jump from the sidelines by recording her next album, God and Money, independently. This album became her biggest break into the CCM industry and was raved by CCM Magazine as reader’s choice for Independent Artist of the Year in 2002.
In 2003 Phillips was signed by Fervent Records and she released her third album, Writing on the Wall, on which she collaborated with many other artists, including Andrew Peterson, Bebo Norman and Stephen Mason of Jars of Clay.
In 2005, Phillips released a speciality album called Kingdom Come and recorded her fifth and most recent album Nobody's Got It All Together, which was released in early 2006.
In 2006, Phillips founded the Square Peg Alliance with twelve other independent Christian artists in order to cross-promote each other's music.
She currently tours her new album with her husband, singer-songwriter Andy Gullahorn, while retaining plenty of time for her two children. Jill is also a self-proclaimed cook, loves to visit The Outer Banks of North Carolina and is an avid watcher of Meet The Press.

Every Day
Jill Phillips Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Reflects perfectly clear
We walk to the car, turn on "secret garden"
And roll down the windows to hear
Down to the shore where the tide is rising
Feel it run over our feet
We start to move and I'm realizing
Now I am living a dream
[Chorus]
I can't believe can't believe that we're here
But I won't complain won't complain
Cause I could go on for a million more years
If we danced like this every day.
I open my eyes as the song is fading
I wish that it had no end
But the pulse of the tide keeps our bodies swaying
Dancing to music within
[Chorus: x2]
The lyrics to Jill Phillips's song, "Every Day", paints a beautiful picture of a special moment between two people. The imagery of a moonlit night with stars and water in reflection provides a serene and peaceful backdrop. The couple walks to their car and turns on the song "secret garden", creating the perfect ambiance. They then drive down to the shore where the tide is rising and feel the water run over their feet. As they begin to move and dance to the music, the singer realizes that this moment is a dream come true.
The chorus of the song expresses the singer's disbelief and gratitude for being in this moment. She can't believe that they are there, but she won't complain because she would love to experience this every day. In the final verse, the singer wishes that the song didn't have to end, but the pulse of the tide keeps their bodies swaying to the music within.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of appreciation for the beauty and simplicity of life's small moments. The combination of music, nature, and connection between two people creates a feeling of pure bliss.
