But this is so much more
I couldn't last a day without you
In my life, you're the reason that I breathe; you're everything I need
The miles in between won't change that
I will reach out to the ocean with my arms wide open
And send to you my heart my soul my true devotion
Do you know that I live for the chance to hear you say, you love me
In my dreams, you're right here by my side
Each time I close my eyes
I still can see that sweet September
In the rain laughing in the rain
I'll never be the same
Until the moment we're together
I will reach out to the ocean with my arms wide open
And send to you my heart my soul my true devotion
No, there's nothing I won't give
Do you know that I live for the chance to hear you say, you love me
Until the moment we're together
I will reach out to the ocean with my arms wide open
And send to you my heart my soul my true devotion
No, there's nothing I won't give
Do you know that I live for the chance to hear you say, you love me
For the chance to hear you say, you love me
The lyrics to Jim Brickman's song "To Hear You Say You Love Me" speak of a deep and all-encompassing love that the singer feels for their beloved. They declare that they have loved before, but that their love for this person is so much more than any other previous love they've felt. In fact, they claim that they couldn't last a single day without this person in their life, and that they are the very reason that the singer breathes and exist. The singer says that even the miles between them won't change their feelings, and that they would do anything for the chance to hear their beloved say "I love you".
The second verse continues in the same vein, describing how the singer sees their beloved in their dreams, and how a particular moment in the rain together made them the happiest they've ever been. The singer longs for the day when they can be together again, and says that until that moment, they will be reaching out to the ocean with open arms, sending their heart, soul, and devotion to their beloved. The chorus repeats, emphasizing how much the singer lives for the chance to hear their loved one say "I love you".
This song is a beautiful declaration of love and devotion, with lyrics that convey both the depth and intensity of the singer's feelings. The singer expresses that their love is all-encompassing and unchanging, even across long distances, and that they will do anything for the chance to be with their beloved.
