Hendrix performed in the early hours of 31 August 1970 at the Isle of Wight Festival to a huge crowd with Mitch Mitchell on drums and Billy Cox on bass. In the beginning Hendrix had technical problems, which at one point during "Machine Gun" involved the security's radio signal interfering with his amp's output.
David Gilmour from Pink Floyd has confirmed that he watched this Hendrix concert in person.
In From The Storm

I just came back from the storm Yeah
I said, I just came back baby
I just came back from the storm Yeah
From the storm
Well I did not know it then
But I was sufferin', sufferin'
It was so cold and lonely, yeah
The wind cryin' through the rain tared me up
It was so cold and lonely
Cryin' through rain was tearin' me up
Oh a tearin' me up
I want to thank you my sweat darlin'
For diggin' in the mud, for diggin' me up
(Thank you baby)
It was a terrible rain burnin' my eyes
The wind and lightning took us by surprise
It was you my love who brought me in
I love you so much, I'll never stray from you again
Hey
I just came back, today
I just came back today my baby on her way
Yeah yeah yeah
The song "In From The Storm" by Jimi Hendrix is a song about a man who has just returned from a turbulent time in his life, with the "storm" serving as a metaphor for the emotional turmoil he has been experiencing. The lyrics suggest that the storm was caused by the pain and suffering of love, which tore the singer apart and left him feeling cold and lonely.
However, the singer acknowledges that it was his "sweat darlin'" who ultimately pulled him through, digging him out of the mud and bringing him in from the storm. The storm is portrayed as a powerful and destructive force, but ultimately it is overcome by the strength of love. The song ends with the singer expressing his gratitude to his lover and vowing to never stray from her again.
Overall, the song is a powerful meditation on the enduring power of love and its ability to help us weather even the toughest storms. It is a reminder that, no matter how hard things may seem, there is always hope and the possibility of finding peace and happiness again.
