In the sleepy town of San Juanita,
In a quiet and peaceful place called San Juanita,

There's a story that a padre tells,
There is a story that a religious official tells,

Seems they asked the padre for permission
It seems that they requested the official's approval,

To be married early in the spring,
To get married at the beginning of the spring season,

But their folks had made just one condition
However, their parents had only one requirement,

That the mission bells had to ring.
That the bells of the mission needed to ring.

Ev'ry one knew the bells were broken,
Everyone was aware that the bells were not functioning,

And hadn't sounded for a long, long time.
And they had not made any sound for a considerable period.

Then one night the village was astounded
Then, one night, the community was surprised,

For the bells began to chime!
Because the bells began to ring!

Still the bells are broken, goes the story
According to the story, the bells are still not working,

But if in your heart a true love dwells
However, if you have true love in your heart,

They will ring for you in all their glory,
The bells will ring beautifully for you,

That's the serenade of the bells.
And that is what is known as the musical serenade of the bells.
