His first album featured a recording of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends", which brought him to near-instant stardom. The song reached number one in the UK in 1968, became a staple of his many live shows (Woodstock and the Isle of Wight in 1969, the Party at the Palace in 2002) and was also known as the theme song for the late 1980s American TV series The Wonder Years. He continued his success with his second album, which included a second Beatles song: "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window". A hastily thrown together 1970 US tour led to the live double-album Mad Dogs & Englishmen, which featured an all-star band organized by Leon Russell. His 1974 recording of "You Are So Beautiful" reached number five in the US, and became his signature song. Cocker's best selling song was the US number one "Up Where We Belong", a duet with Jennifer Warnes that earned a 1983 Grammy Award. He released a total of 22 studio albums over a 43-year recording career.
In 1993, Cocker was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Male. He was awarded a bronze Sheffield Legends plaque in his hometown in 2007, and received an OBE the following year for services to music. Cocker was ranked number 97 on Rolling Stone's 100 greatest singers list.

Every Time It Rains
Joe Cocker Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I sit at home and wonder why
Ever since you said goodbye
I felt so all alone
Every time it rains
And summer showers soak the ground
I watch the rain come pouring down
And I call out your name
Every time it rains
I hang my head and want to die
And I don't seem to care that
I'm just not making it on my own
Every time it rains
Sometimes late at night
I close my eyes
And pretend that you're here with me
But every time it rains
I realize just how lonely my life is going to be
Every time it rains
Every time I hear the raindrops fall
I may say that I don't mind it at all
But I do
Every time it rains
Every time I try to tell myself
That in time I'll find somebody else
But it won't be you
Every time it rains
Every time it rains
The lyrics to Joe Cocker's song Every Time It Rains tell of the singer's struggle to cope with the aftermath of a relationship that has ended. The singer is haunted by the memory of his lost love every time it rains, as the rain seems to bring out his pain and loneliness. He wants to find someone else, but can't seem to escape the feelings he has for his former partner.
The song's opening line, "Every time it rains, I sit at home and wonder why," sets the tone for the rest of the lyrics. The singer is forced to confront his emotions every time it rains, and the repetition of the phrase "Every time it rains" underscores the overwhelming nature of these feelings.
The lyrics also highlight the contrast between the natural beauty of the rain and the singer's inner turmoil. The summer showers that "soak the ground" are a symbol of renewal and growth, yet to the singer, they represent only his pain and longing.
Overall, the lyrics to Every Time It Rains offer a poignant depiction of heartbreak and the struggle to move on.

I hang my head and want to die

Kochanie jestem nadal w Tobie zakochana
Bedę próbować powstrzymać to
