His first album featured a recording of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends", which brought him to near-instant stardom. The song reached number one in the UK in 1968, became a staple of his many live shows (Woodstock and the Isle of Wight in 1969, the Party at the Palace in 2002) and was also known as the theme song for the late 1980s American TV series The Wonder Years. He continued his success with his second album, which included a second Beatles song: "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window". A hastily thrown together 1970 US tour led to the live double-album Mad Dogs & Englishmen, which featured an all-star band organized by Leon Russell. His 1974 recording of "You Are So Beautiful" reached number five in the US, and became his signature song. Cocker's best selling song was the US number one "Up Where We Belong", a duet with Jennifer Warnes that earned a 1983 Grammy Award. He released a total of 22 studio albums over a 43-year recording career.
In 1993, Cocker was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Male. He was awarded a bronze Sheffield Legends plaque in his hometown in 2007, and received an OBE the following year for services to music. Cocker was ranked number 97 on Rolling Stone's 100 greatest singers list.

Never know how much I care
When you put your arms around me
I get a fever that's so hard to bear
You give me fever when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Everybody's got the fever
that is something you all know
Fever isn't such a new thing
Fever started long ago
Sun lights up the daytime
Moon lights up the night
I light up when you call my name
And you know I'm gonna treat you right
You give me fever when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night
Romeo loved Juliet
Juliet she felt the same
When he put his arms around her
He said 'Julie, baby, you're my flame
Thou giv-est fever when we 'kisseth'
Fever with the flaming youth
Fever I'm afire
Fever yea I burn for sooth'
Captain Smith and Pocahontas
Had a very mad affair
When her daddy tried to kill him
She said 'Daddy, o, don't you dare
He gives me fever with his kisses
Fever when he holds me tight
Fever, I'm his misses,
Oh daddy, won't you treat him right'
Now you've listened to my story
Here's the point that I have made
Cats were born to give chicks fever
Be it Fahrenheit or centigrade
They give you fever when you kiss them
Fever if you live and learn
Fever till you sizzle
What a lovely way to burn
What a lovely way to burn
What a lovely way to burn
The song “Fever” by Joe Cocker is a blues classic that was written by Eddie Cooley and Otis Blackwell in the 1950s. It is a song about the way that love for someone can create a fever-like sensation in the body, something which has been felt by humans for centuries. The song highlights how this fever is universal, affecting everyone, and how it has been experienced throughout history, as even Romeo and Juliet and Captain Smith and Pocahontas felt it too.
The lyrics speak to the idea that love can ignite a passion within a person, and that this feeling can be so strong that it can make them feel physically ill. The use of historical references in the song reinforces the idea that the fever of love has been felt throughout time, both by famous historical figures and by ordinary people. The song also suggests that this fever can be intense, long-lasting, and all-consuming, creating a burning flame within the person who experiences it.
Fever has been covered by countless artists, including Peggy Lee, Elvis Presley, and Madonna. Joe Cocker’s version of the song was released in 1997 and was included on his album “Across from Midnight”. His take on the classic blues track features his signature soulful vocals and is backed by a funky brass section. The song remains a timeless classic, a testament to the enduring power of love and the way it can make us feel.

My God. He heated up the song. Vocals and arrangement. Guitar amazing solo. The work of a real artist of the voice. The electric piano under his voice and the chorus, since made on Cocker`s way, always work to better in any song he sing.
