If there was no Joe Satriani, the world of instrumental music would never have been so rich and fabulous

Joe Satriani is a perfect inexhaustible source of beautiful melodies and subtle technical guitar playing. I like very much all the albums from on the first debut in 1987
to this 2015. Satch you are awesome!

you took the words right out my head I love him for the years of music he gave me
Matthew Abuelo
His debut album, as far as major studio work is concerned, was released in 1985, Not of This Earth. He did have a self produced ep. 1984.

I was going to leave a little comment giving Joe his well deserved props but I started reading . Totally agree ,that sector of the listening public that find fault in anything Mr.Satriani plays can definitely shut the fuck up. I'm 51, started playing at 12 and in my opinion I think he's #1 in my book. When a guitarist can separate himself from the thousands of top shelf shredders with a distinct style, sound and unbelievable skill-set as well as song writing talent that speaks for itself, that musician is going to deliver the magic that He's grown and developed during His career.... and whala I give You Joe Satriani. Not a puzzle, those naysayers should turn in their eardrums.

maybe but that works against himself, once you expect something from joe, you kinda cant tolerate something diferent, like his slides, or love songs, really hate those.

Exactly every artist has a style for folks who want to listen to music that is purposeful and intentional he's your man. There are plenty of shredders out there that couldn't grab an acoustic and accompany their families singing Happy Birthday to You(I'm serious by the way) If you want mindless, meaningless guitar acrobatics of mine is bigger than yours try Vai or Govan etc.
