Joe Walsh (James Gang) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Uh, sleep all day, out all night,
I know where you're going.
I don't that's a-acting right,
You don't think it's showing.
A-jumpin' up, fallin' down,
Don't misunderstand me.

You don't think that I know your plan,
What you try'n to hand me?
Out all night, sleep all day,
I know what you're doing.

If you're gonna a-act that way,
Think there's trouble brewing.

Overall Meaning

The song "Funk #49" by Joe Walsh and the James Gang is a high-energy, hard-hitting rock tune about a woman who is living a wild and reckless lifestyle. The lyrics describe a woman who sleeps all day and is out all night, and the singer knows exactly what she's up to. He's aware that she's been acting shady and doesn't think she's fooling anyone, even though she may believe she is.

The lyrics continue to describe her constant partying, and they suggest that the singer has had enough of her reckless behavior. He feels that trouble is brewing, and he's ready to confront her. The lyrics are accompanied by a driving guitar riff and a heavy drumbeat that perfectly matches the intensity of the lyrics. The song's energetic sound and catchy chorus make it a classic rock favorite that continues to be popular today.

When Joe joined the Eagles in the 70s I thought he was incredibly lucky to get that gig but after years have gone by I think the Eagles are incredibly lucky to get Joe.

All Joe needs is "Joe"

@branmonte

They would’ve broken up way earlier if not for joe. He gave their band more soul than ever.

The Orchestra Teacher (exceptional Celloist and of course classically trained) where I teach was hired by the Eagles to play while they did their gig in Dallas last year right before COVID...he didn't really know anything about Joe Walsh, they did three nights...when he came back after the first gig, he told he me could not believe what an unbelievable musician Joe Walsh is.

@stefanfful

No doubt.
