La Musica de Harry Fraud
On some third eye shit
What a young nigga to do? Little yute
Trying to figure the bigger truth
Fed up with little proof
Hopped off this stoop and cocked this duece
Moms was juice and riches
Pops was tools he lifted, son of a gun
He put fools in ditches
Raised well, time went on and he aged well
At age 12 dropped a twelve
Gauge and two A-12’s when I blaze this L
See niggas who ain't obey the style
So they spray shells and
Tool-grade's the cells he remain swell
But you can tell that life
That was once difficult
Got flipped like reciprocals
He retired the days in which he
Booted slaves and caught up in
Fusillades, and now he gets
Induced whenever music plays
But that's just a day in the life
You saying it right
Weak cats get dismayed in a night
Get this made in a night
You can say it ain't right
But that's just a day in the life
You saying it right
Weak cats get dismayed in a night
Get this made in a night
You can say it ain't right
At the back of my mind I'm held hostage
Incarcerated flow, they got me locked up and
Blocked up my chakras
Only thing on my conscience
Is contracts and contests
Can't burn no bridges
Surready no calling back to the
Nigga I used to be when, shit was new to me
Move indubitably
Honeys always talking about they nudity
But stay including me to the exclusivities
I love titties, but amor kitties
You know I got those vato
You know the motto for models
Trust you gon' swallow
But mine not those bottles
Men lie, women lie, but not no lotto
It's the primeval underground but nah
Not no fossil
But that's just a day in the life
You saying it right
Weak cats get dismayed in a night
Get this made in a night
You can say it ain't right
But that's just a day in the life
You saying it right
Weak cats get dismayed in a night
Get this made in a night
You can say it ain't right
But that's just a day in the life
You saying it right
Weak cats get dismayed in a night
Get this made in a night
You can say it ain't right
The lyrics of "Day In The Life" by Joey Bada$$ delve into the experiences and emotions of a young individual trying to navigate through life and find their purpose. The song opens with the mention of "third eye shit," which alludes to spiritual enlightenment and a deeper understanding of the world. The reference to Harry Fraud, the producer of the song, suggests that this journey of self-discovery is supported by the musical backdrop.
The singer, referred to as a "little yute" (youth), is seeking the truth and is frustrated by the lack of concrete evidence or proof to guide them. Feeling fed up, they make a decision to step away from their current environment and adopt a street life mentality. Their mother, who sought money and success ("juice and riches"), and father, who used tools and violence ("tools he lifted, son of a gun"), influence their mindset. They become involved in dangerous activities, putting themselves and others in harm's way.
As time progresses, the singer matures, exemplified by the reference to being aged 12 when they acquire weapons. However, they also recognize the consequences and damage caused by their actions ("fools in ditches"). Despite their troubled past, they signal a desire to move on from the violence and become introspective ("life that was once difficult, got flipped like reciprocals"). They retire from their previous lifestyle of enacting violence and become captivated by the power of music.
The chorus highlights the cyclical nature of life, acknowledging that what the singer experiences is just a day in their life. The term "weak cats" refers to individuals who are easily discouraged or overwhelmed. The singer’s experiences, however, occur and are resolved within a night, demonstrating their resilience and ability to adapt to challenges. The lyrics suggest that although their journey may not be conventional or "right," it is their reality.
In the second verse, the singer reveals the internal struggles they face. They feel imprisoned and blocked creatively, with their flow and chakras (energy centers) disrupted. Their focus is solely on contracts and competitions, with a sense of caution not to burn bridges. They reflect on their past self, when everything was new and exciting, aware of their growth and evolution. They mention interactions with women, acknowledging their attraction to physical beauty but also valuing deeper connections. The line "Men lie, women lie, but not no lotto" suggests that while people may deceive, the outcome of chance (such as winning the lottery) is straightforward and genuine.
Overall, "Day In The Life" captures the struggles, growth, and reflections of a young individual trying to find their place in the world. It explores themes of self-discovery, resilience, and the transformative power of music.
