In addition to his work with 3, Joey Eppard has worked with many other musicians and bands, including Parliament-Funkadelic and Bad Brains. He serves as a guitarist and vocalist for the psychedelic/funk band DRUGS: The Mis-Americans. During his career, he has performed throughout the United States and Europe, both in bands, and as a solo artist.
He also released a solo album in late 2002, called "Been to the Future," which features studio recordings of some of his solo work.
Most notable about Joey is his unique guitar technique that is best described as a combination of spanish flamenco style and slap bass techniques. Eppard's vocals have been described as 'siren-like', while his 'finger-pricked rhythms' have gained praise. He has stated that Led Zeppelin had a profound influence in shaping his musical talents. He also has listed such artists as King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and The Mahavishnu Orchestra as other influences.
He himself plays largely on Ovation roundbacks, presumably because of the similarity in the neck and action to an electric.
Joey Eppard is also the brother of Josh Eppard, who currently drums for Coheed and Cambria, and is the former drummer of 3, as well as current MC for his hip-hop side-project Weerd Science.

What a Devil's got to do
Sometimes hell is freezing,
And the souls all laugh at you,
Sometimes a fallen angel,
Comes stumbling in
And the sunlight of a stranger,
Can erase the dark of sin.
Well I paint the face of danger,
And I planned the whole event,
For a baby in a manger,
But I don't know where he went,
So I'm searching for his footprints,
Out in the snow,
You know I'd ask his father
But where'd that old man go?
Growing undefined
Faster and faster,
The speed of your cancer.
And of human kind,
Faster and faster,
The speed of your cancer,
Like an airline disaster,
Why won't you answer me?
And I know it can't be pretty,
What a preacher's got to do.
Pitch a slogan to a city,
And pretend you think it's true.
Should we sacrifice the living,
For the befit of the dead?
Or give the gift that keeps on giving,
And see the bigger truth instead.
Growing undefined
Faster and faster,
The speed of your cancer.
And of human kind,
Faster and faster,
The speed of your cancer,
Like an airline disaster,
Why won't you answer me?
Well I've been acting supernatural,
I've gotten into the unknown,
I've got a phantom in my bathroom,
And a werewolf on the phone,
And the captain's in the kitchen,
Cooking up some crime,
I've abandoned television,
For a vision in my mind
Growing undefined
Faster and faster,
The speed of your cancer.
Could be the end of human kind,
Faster and faster,
The speed of your cancer,
Like an airline disaster,
Why won't you answer me?
The song "Faster" by Joey Eppard is a thought-provoking and introspective song that grapples with some of life's most important questions in a unique way. The song has an apocalyptic feel to it, speaking of the "speed of your cancer" and the end of human kind, but ultimately the song is about the search for truth and the struggle to make sense of the world around us. The lyrics are cleverly crafted and often ambiguous, allowing for multiple interpretations and encouraging the listener to think deeply about the meaning behind the words.
The song opens with the singer acknowledging that life isn't easy and that sometimes it feels like hell has frozen over. The metaphorical souls of the dead are laughing at him, and he seems to be struggling to find his way in the darkness. A fallen angel enters the scene, and the sunlight of a stranger helps to erase the darkness of sin. This could be interpreted in a religious sense, with the fallen angel representing the singer's own struggles with sin and the stranger representing the grace of God.
The middle portion of the song becomes more existential in nature, wondering about the speed of cancer and the end of human kind. The singer asks why won't you answer me, perhaps referring to a higher power or the universe itself. The lyrics are cryptic but hint at a deep concern for the state of the world and the future of humanity.
Overall, "Faster" is a powerful and thought-provoking song that invites listeners to grapple with some of life's biggest questions. The ambiguity of the lyrics encourages interpretation and allows for multiple meanings to be drawn from the song.
