I Wanna Know
John E. Paul Lyrics

I don’t wanna know
I can’t be with you
Everywhere you go
So whatever you’re doing
With some so-and-so
If you don’t wanna tell me
I don’t wanna know
Well a little bird told me
A story about you
It’s only a rumor
But it may be true
So when you tell a secret
Whisper it real low
Down low
‘Cause if you don’t wanna tell me
I don’t wanna know
Don’t wanna know
You been telling me lies again
Don’t wanna know
It’s a stranger or my best friend
Baby you know this ain’t my
Ain’t my first rodeo
Oh no
And if you don’t wanna tell me
I don’t wanna know
No if you don’t wanna tell me
I don’t wanna know
No I don’t
No if you don’t wanna tell me
I don’t wanna know
I don’t wanna know
You don’t have to tell me baby
I don’t wanna know
I don’t wanna know
The lyrics to John E. Paul's song "I Wanna Know" describe a situation where the singer's significant other is keeping secrets and he is becoming increasingly frustrated with the situation. The repetition of the phrase "if you don't wanna tell me, I don't wanna know" indicates the singer's reluctance to push for information that his partner is unwilling to share. He even goes so far as to say that he cannot be with the person every step of the way, indicating that he understands the need for space and some secrets.
However, the second half of the song indicates that the singer has been given reason to believe that his partner is not being truthful. He mentions a "little bird" who told him a story, indicating that the information may have come from a third party. The fact that the singer refers to the information as a rumor suggests that he is not entirely sure of its veracity, but the possibility that it could be true is enough to make him feel mistrustful. Despite this, he maintains that he doesn't want to know what's going on, as the idea of his partner being involved with someone else is too difficult for him to confront.
Overall, the lyrics to "I Wanna Know" describe a situation that many people can relate to. The fear of knowing that one's partner is keeping secrets can be a source of anxiety and frustration, and the reluctance to push for information can result in a feeling of powerlessness. The song's message encourages listeners to trust their instincts and recognize that some things may be better left unsaid.

I gather John E Paul werra country n western singer frum Liverpool our kid !
@zoddiiio
John Paul was a Liverpool singer. This song was actually the 'B' side to a ballad called 'Prince of Players'. If John had taken agents' offers to decamp to London he could have been a major force in the business; he had a great range to his vocals and could deliver either a driving rock song or a soft melodic ballad, as this recording proves. But John was a family man and his responsibility lay with his wife and children in Liverpool. London's loss was his family's and friend's gain. Nice one.JP
