Showing Happy To The World

Look into the sun, you cannot face what you've become
Through the shopping malls, you blend into the human walls
Your eyes search the faces, as you move within the places
That you once moved with her, that you once knew with her
When you were arm in arm showing happy to the world
You were arm in arm showing happy to the world
Is no one happy in this world?
Grateful for breath, more than once you've cheated death
Crushed till you scream, you can't awaken from this dream
This I will pray for you, this I will promise you
For every lover that's gone, another comes along
And you will move in her, as if you always knew in her
You will be
Arm in arm showing happy to the world
Arm in arm showing happy to the world
Arm in arm showing happy to the world
You will be happy in this world
You will be happy in this world...
Arm in arm showing happy to the world
Arm in arm showing happy to the world
Arm in arm showing happy to the world
Is no one happy in this world?
Can we be happy in this world?
Can we be happy in this world?
Will we be happy in this world?
The song "Showing Happy to the World" by John Wesley is a powerful exploration of the human experience and our search for happiness. The song begins by encouraging the listener to look into the sky, acknowledging that we cannot erase what is in our eyes, and look into the sun, despite not being able to face what we have become. The lyrics then move to a description of blending into human walls at shopping malls, searching for familiar faces from our past. The imagery is one of loneliness and alienation, a feeling that is amplified as the lyrics suggest that we were once arm in arm with someone, showing off our happy selves to the world.
The song then moves into an affirmation of life, suggesting that despite the hardships we go through, we should still be grateful for breath and not take our lives for granted. While we may feel crushed and unable to awaken from our current difficulties, the lyrics promise that with time, we will find a new love and move on. The song ends with an appeal to happiness, asking if anyone is actually happy, and questioning if we, as individuals or as a society, can be happy in this world.
Overall, the song suggests that happiness is elusive but not impossible. We may go through difficult times, but we can find happiness again, and we should always keep searching for it. The lyrics are beautifully crafted and resonate with many people, making this song a memorable and powerful ode to the human experience.
