Thirteen Days
John Wesley Lyrics

life in your arms you hold me
the fire in your eyes stopped the bleeding
the love in your heart kept me breathing
I feel I'm dying again.
I've got nothing but hatred for my lover and friend
the lion in your eyes watches me screaming
Thirteen days, before you left me here staring
thirteen days, before you tried to stop caring
Stare into the dark
the emptiness of hell comes to enfold me
take a long look at your sweet creation
did you get a thrill to watch my heart breaking
Thirteen days, before you left me here standing alone
thirteen days, before you left me to die on a phone
I cannot pretend, can't find an end
oh, how I miss you
I was your lover and you were my friend
I pray to God I never see you again
Thirteen days, before you left me here waiting to hold you
Thirteen days, before you forgot what I told you
Thirteen days, that you gave to me only to take from me
Thirteen days, before you left me here breaking
These lyrics describe someone's journey through a relationship that starts with love and protection, but eventually falls apart. In the beginning, the singer feels safe and loved, but as time passes, they become consumed with hatred for their partner. The lion in their lover's eyes watches them suffer, and the coldness in their heart only adds to the pain.
The song then references "thirteen days," which is likely a significant period of time in the relationship. Thirteen days before the singer was left alone and abandoned, before their partner stopped caring about them. Thirteen days before they were left to suffer and die on a phone, without any support or love.
The lyrics become even more emotional in the second half of the song. The singer stares into the darkness and feels the emptiness of hell, with their lover's creation - possibly their child - serving as a reminder of the pain they left behind. They miss their lover, despite the hurt they've caused, and pray that they never have to see them again.
Overall, the lyrics are a heartbreaking exploration of the ups and downs of a relationship. They showcase the pain of letting go and learning to live without someone, as well as the anger that can arise when someone we love hurts us.
