Recently picked up a set of dunlop maxfli clubs with aluminum shafts and have been researching them heavily. Perfect timing! Great video

Great research and story line as usual. I have a set of 1968 Wilson Staff 2-PW with the regular aluminum shafts. Original grips are not worn out but a little hard. Hit them about once or twice a year as they are really in nice condition. Also had another set of 1968 Staffs with the stiff aluminum shafts that I used as my players. The golf pro at a club I used to play was on a round with me and said that is what he started out with. He traded me a new set of Staffs (early nineties) that I could not hit at all. So we traded back but he had changed the shafts to steel and I could not hit them well any more. Then donated them to a charity auction where they fetched $110 for a good cause.

Nick, Very informative look into the aluminum shaft. I believe Canadians also pronounce it like you do too, I'm from northeastern Ohio but my Great,Great Grandfather Clark was from Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England. I believe your shots with the aluminum shafts were alittle more tentative, I know mine would be, waiting for the head to go flying off if the shaft broke. As always thank you for another great video. Geoff.

Currently I only have the single iron so it's unlikely.
But as I hinted at towards the end of the video, I also have a fibreglass shafted club so I guess I could put the two together in a bag.
I have at least one aluminium shafted putter and I also have a graphite shafted persimmon driver.... I can see a video forming!
How about "Four shaft challenge", not just four clubs but four shaft materials - graphite, aluminium, fibreglass and steel?

I have a set of the first Titleist iron blades by Achushnet in 1969, they have aluminum shafts, the 1,3,4 and 5 persimmons also have aluminum shafts.

Thanks, yes I read about that, it had some of the richest purses for the time. The first year it was held at The Old Course, St Andrews.
