They formed in 1979 after Vangelis had been rumoured to replace Rick Wakeman in Yes a few years before. Anderson had contributed to Vangelis' albums "Heaven and Hell", "See You Later" and "Opera Sauvage".
They released a total of four albums with Anderson writing the lyrics and Vangelis composing the music: "Short Stories" in 1980, "The Friends of Mr. Cairo" in 1981, "Private Collection" in 1983, and "Page of Life" in 1991, which got re-released in 1998 with some additional tracks of which Vangelis reportedly did not approve. There are also two compilations, called "The Best of Jon & Vangelis" (1984) and "Chronicles" (1994)

I see the sunlight like I see it for my manyest of days
But in my heart it's not the same
'Cause when I turn to look for you I realize I'm alone again
But let me put this point of view
I can be lost and lonely too
No more afriad to say to myself
I miss you, I miss you
So if these days are the sanctuary
To help me understand myself a little more
I've learned one thing that surprises me
To be alone, is not alone
As I thought it was before
For who lights up this very dawn I see
When I feel the tears in my eyes
Who lights the way when all around
The clouds are darkening my skies
Trust is all I need
Trust is all I know
And the arms of love
To see my senses grow
Who knows if I can discover myself
Who knows if I can contain the power
Say just what you might
Say just what you need
I feel better knowing, it's not for nothing
We are growing
So when you ask me, am I'm feeling ok
I only know I'm waking up to hold my days
Looking for your help, looking for your trust
And the arms of love
The arms of love
The arms of love
The arms of loveAnd when I wake up to the days
I see the sunlight like I see it for my manyest of days
But in my heart it's not the same
'Cause when I turn to look for you I realize I'm alone again
But let me put this point of view

The lyrics of Jon & Vangelis's song "The Arms of Love" express a deep longing for connection and a sense of loneliness when that connection is not present. The singer wakes up to each day, seeing the sunlight as they have seen it for many days before, but in their heart, something is different. They turn to look for someone, presumably a loved one, but realize that they are alone again. Despite this, they acknowledge that they can also feel lost and lonely at times, understanding that it is a universal experience.
The singer finds solace in the idea that being alone is not the same as being truly alone. They realize that even in moments of darkness and difficulty, there is someone or something that lights up their life. This could be a metaphorical representation of love or trust. They recognize that trust is a fundamental need in their life, and with the arms of love, they can continue to grow and develop.
The song questions the possibility of self-discovery and whether one can contain the power within themselves. It emphasizes the importance of expressing oneself honestly and needing the support and trust of others. The singer feels reassured by the idea that their growth and struggles are not in vain, as they are part of a continuous process of becoming better.
In summary, "The Arms of Love" speaks to the human need for connection, trust, and support. It acknowledges the presence of loneliness but also highlights the power of love and the understanding that being alone does not mean being isolated.
