He co-hosted a Sunday morning radio show on BBC 6 Music with fellow comedian Russell Howard, and continued to present the show himself after Howard left, until 7th March 2010. He was nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2007 if.comedy awards for his first full-length solo show 'Spatula Pad' which he performed at the Pleasance Courtyard, and he was also nominated for the main Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2009.

He won the award for Best Breakthrough Act at the 2008 Chortle Awards.

Early career

Richardson started out in comedy after dropping out of Hispanic Studies at Bristol University. After a year working as a chef, he realised that he wanted to do stand-up and entered and won his heat of the BBC New Talent Comedy Search in May 2003. His first gig was at the Bath Comedy Cavern alongside Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert. In 2004, he was one of six acts to reach the final of the J20 Last Laugh Comedy Search.

Jon completed a 60 date UK and Irish tour supporting Alan Carr in 2006.

I laughed but then remembered that I keep coming into work
and seeing the big flat ladles we use for dishing out pizza sauce on the draining board
with the open bowl part facing UP
and a little puddle of scummy water inside
and then loads of others stacked the same way on top
so I just redo all the dishes

and don't get me started on the industrial dishwasher in the back
when there are more than five trays in it
and they're not leaning the right way
so the jets don't actually hit anything they're meant to hit
and we get the two spoons issue but with big greasy trays that recently held chicken fat

I'm so so SO glad it's not just me that suffers a personal, deep-seated and wounding hurt in my soul when people just can't use a dishwasher as it is obviously designed to be used. The dishwasher bit is so true.
I've been doing it for like 10 years in my family and I complain about how everyone either is incapable of loading it or they load it incorrectly.
And in a couple months I'm off to uni so they will all learn real quick I imagine when everything comes out dirty all the time.

Yep agree, but maybe Jon doesnt create enough comedy that can be uploaded. He is a lazy so and so and has a family to feed now so if he can squeeze more money out of reruns then thats what he is gonna do lol.

I caught my old roommate put my wooden cutting board in the dishwasher after cutting vegetables on it.
Needless to say I went bonkers.
I moved out a week after that and swore to not let anyone touch my board again.

Jon, you are of course missing a trick in your dishwashing process. Now don't think I'm being too harsh on you, but, before I load the dishwasher, I set it off on a dry, or should it be wet run. Just to clean the drum, before I load up with all the dirty stuff. I use a similar process with the washing machine, where I set it off on a 30 minute cycle whilst empty. At least it all makes sense to me. OCD pals forever.

I hope you do grow to view relationships with less suspicion...You sound like you've been burned before, so I can't blame you. But everyone's got their screw-ups and that's something we've just got to deal with. Talk to them about it if it matters; if they leave or ignoe then you were right to not trust them. But it doesn't always really matter.

Dear Countdown Kid, please find some time to get in shape (unspecified shape, but you know what I mean, lol). Stop drinking or drink less for a couple of months until you improve your health a little. Run everyday and workout. You are kinda vegan but you don't look healthy. And you are only in your 40s. You look like a melting candle version of what you were. Don't take this the wrong way. Really want to see you improve your health and everything else will follow. The old John was more cheerful. It seems like something along the way got you down and you gave up on yourself. From what I have seen in similar people is that they will continue to do so, but hope that's not the case with you Jon. Oh, you need to find someone that will bring out the best in you. My partner does that for me and vice versa. Find the right people in your life including friends. If you are healthy and cheerful them you got the right ones, otherwise keep searching.
