Secada arrived with his parents in the United States in 1971 at the age of nine. While attending school, his family managed a coffee shop. As a teen, Secada discovered his gift for music. In the culturally diverse city of Miami, Secada was exposed to salsa and merengue. Secada also became interested in R&B and pop music performed by Barry Manilow, Marvin Gaye, Billy Joel, Elton John and Stevie Wonder.

Among other songs, Secada co-wrote and sang background on Coming Out of the Dark Gloria's number one hit from her 1991 album Into the Light. The album went Platinum in the US. One of its singles had a top ten Pop hit If You Go and a Top 30 hit Mental Picture, which was used in the soundtrack for the film "The Specialist". His third album on EMI, Amor, was released in 1995 and earned Secada his second Grammy for "Best Latin Pop Performance".
Secada co-wrote the song Bella, the Spanish version of She's All I Ever Had for Ricky Martin's 1999 Multi-platinum self-titled album. He also co-wrote and co-produced the song Baila for Jennifer Lopez, which appeared on her 1999 multi-platinum album, On the 6. A Donde Voy
Jon Secada Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
No sabrás
Y no quiero vivir
Y es que yo soy de ti
Yo te quiero a ti sólo a ti
The song "A Donde Voy" by Jon Secada is a poignant ballad that talks about the pain and confusion that comes with losing a loved one. The lyrics are deeply personal and express the desperation and longing of someone who has lost their way after losing the person they love. The vocalist is asking where the person they love is because they need them. They feel like they have so much love to give, but they never got the chance to show it. They are lost and not sure what to do without the person they love.
The chorus of the song reveals the depth of the singer's emotions. They say that they don't know who they are or where they belong without their loved one. They don't even know what to do with their kisses because they don't know who they are without their loved one. In the second verse, the singer talks about how much they loved their partner and how they taught them how to live. They also express regret that they are no longer together, even though they still carry their memories with them.
The song is a powerful tribute to the healing power of love and how it can transform someone's life. The pain of losing someone you love is never easy, but the song acknowledges that it is a part of life. It teaches us that the love we shared with someone can sustain us even after they are gone.

Dónde estás necesito de ti?
Where are you? I need you.
Do I have extra love and affection that I wish I had given you?
Y no se que hacer
And I don't know what to do.
I can no longer bear this pain inside me.
I don't know how to live without you.
Como en un sueño que he perdido
Like a dream that I have lost.
Este amor es mi castigo
This love is my punishment.
But it was the best thing that God gave me.
Y hoy de mi lado se marche por que
And today it leaves my side because
No se por que
I don't know why.
A donde voy sin ti
Where do I go without you?
I don't know who I am or where I am without you.
What am I going to do with my kisses if
No se quién soy
I don't know who I am.
Ni a dónde voy sin ti
Nor where I go without you.
No sabrás
You won't know
Te ame lo tanto que te ame
I loved you so much
That you are everything to me, you taught me how to live.
Si supieras mi bien
If you only knew, my love
That I love you like I've never loved anyone before.
Porque en mi alma siempre estas conmigo
Because you are always with me in my soul.
Y maldigo que no volver?
And I curse that you won't come back?
Aunque este lejos no la olvido
Even if I'm far away, I won't forget you.
Fue lo mejor que dios me di
It was the best thing that God gave me.
Y de mi lado se marcho por que
And it left my side because
No se por que baby
I don't know why, baby.
No puedo estar sin ti mi amor
I cannot be without you, my love.
De sentir tu calor y no quiero vivir
To feel your warmth and not want to live.
Y es que yo soy de ti
And that's because I belong to you,
Yo te quiero a ti sólo a ti
I love only you.
