Montana Sky
Jonas Brothers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've got friends in different places
They throw parties in the basement and get high
Got distractions by the river in Virginia
That could take up all my time

But it's all just thunder in smoke
I've seen the world
You're still the where I want to go

Montana skies, Georgia sunsets
You're the one walking in my head
Montana skies, Georgia sunsets
You're the one walking in my head

Long, long, New York nights out with my friends
All I see is your silhouette
Oh, Montana skies, Georgia sunsets
You're the one, you're the one walking in my head

I got brothers in their thirties back in Jersey
But your heart is where I'm home (yeah)
I could fill up all my glasses
Maybe move to Calabasas
Say I'd rather be alone

But it's all just thunder in the smoke
Seen the world
You're still the where I want to go

Montana skies, Georgia sunsets
You're the one walking in my head
Oh, Montana skies, Georgia sunsets
You're the one walking in my head
Long, long, New York nights out with my friends
All I see is your silhouette
Oh, Montana skies, Georgia sunsets
You're the one, you're the one walking in my head

(No matter where I go)
(No, no, no matter where I go you're walking in my, uh)

Montana skies, Georgia sunsets
You're the one walking in my head
Oh, Montana skies, yeah
You're the one (you're the one walking in my)

Long, long, New York nights out with my friends
All I see is your silhouette (all I see, all I see)
Oh, Montana skies, Georgia sunsets
You're the one, you're the one walking in my head

You're the one, you're the one walking in my head
You're the one, you're the one walking in my head

Overall Meaning

In "Montana Sky" by the Jonas Brothers, the lyrics depict a longing for someone who holds a special place in the singer's heart. The song highlights the idea that no matter where they go or what distractions they encounter, this person remains the forefront of their thoughts and desires.

The first verse suggests that the singer has friends in different places who engage in activities such as basement parties and getting high. They also mention distractions by the river in Virginia that could consume all their time. However, despite these experiences, they view it all as temporary and insignificant compared to the person they long for. They have seen the world, yet this person is still the one they want to be with.

The chorus reinforces this sentiment, emphasizing how the person they desire occupies their mind. The mention of Montana skies and Georgia sunsets conveys a sense of beauty and tranquility that parallels the emotional connection they feel towards this individual. Even when the singer is out in New York with friends, they only see the silhouette of this person in their thoughts. It's evident that no matter where they go, this individual remains a constant presence in their mind and heart.

In the second verse, the singer acknowledges having brothers in their thirties back in Jersey while suggesting that their heart belongs to the one they long for. They joke about filling up their glasses or moving to places like Calabasas to avoid commitment, but ultimately admit that they would rather be with this special person. Again, the chorus reiterates the captivating effect this person has on the singer, with the mention of Montana skies and Georgia sunsets keeping them firmly planted in their thoughts.

Overall, "Montana Sky" is a heartfelt anthem about the irresistible pull and longing for someone who holds a special place in the singer's heart, no matter where life takes them.

Last year I got engaged in Georgia (Savanna) and married in Montana (Glacier ntl park). This song couldn’t have been more perfect. Thank you for making this masterpiece:)

I have nothing to do with Georgia but seeing that you married in Montana at Glacier Ntl Park made me perk up. My husband and I just celebrated 28 years. We married there in a restored train station right outside of Bozeman. Absolutely gorgeous and it felt like yesterday. The cool thing is that I love my husband just as much now as I did then, maybe even more. I'm a lucky girl.
