Hotel
Jons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Heisann mamma heisann pappa
Jeg er i live bare slapp av
Vi nyter sola nå er vi fremme
Selvom Bent Høie syns vi burde holdt oss hjemme

2020 Var elendig
Så denne reisen var helt nødvendig
Vi tar det rolig med smittevernet
For her på Paradise Hotel kan man bli stjerne

Folk ble sinte de kritiserte
Det er klart vi reagerte
Vi gikk i baren åpnet krana
Også endte vi på nachspiel hos Triana

COVID 19 har et rykte
Det er ingen grunn til å frykte
Det fant vi ut av første natten
Da fikk ingen av oss engang COVID 18

Vi setter tett i boblebadet
Ja bedre kan man ikke ha det
Og vi trenger ingen leger
Her er AntiBac blitt byttet ut med Jæger

Er du svensk og influenser
Her fins ingen røde grenser
Skal dere rom her i en måned
Med en smittevennlig partygutt fra Skåne

Vi tar vare på hverandre
Deler seng med fire andre

Og når man ligger der i midten
Er det større ting på gang enn COVID 19

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Jon's song "Hotel" depict a carefree and rebellious attitude towards the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions it imposed.

In the first verse, Jon greets his parents and assures them that he is alive and they should relax. He mentions that they are enjoying the sun and have arrived at their destination, despite the disapproval of Bent Høie, a Norwegian politician who suggested that they should have stayed at home. This verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, highlighting Jon's defiance and determination to enjoy life regardless of the circumstances.

The second verse reflects on the year 2020, which Jon describes as awful. He justifies his decision to go on this trip as a necessity for his well-being. He acknowledges the importance of taking precautions with regards to COVID-19, but also suggests that being at Paradise Hotel can make one a star, implying that the pursuit of fame and pleasure outweighs concerns about the virus.

The third verse acknowledges the criticism they faced from others who disapproved of their actions. Jon and his companions reacted by going to the bar and letting loose, eventually ending up at an after-party with Triana, referring to Triana Iglesias, a Norwegian-Spanish model, and television host. This verse demonstrates Jon's disregard for public opinion and his inclination to prioritize fun and spontaneity over caution and societal norms.

The final verse illustrates Jon's nonchalant attitude towards COVID-19. He reduces the virus to a mere rumor and implies that there is no reason to fear it. He boasts about their first night together, where none of them even contracted "COVID 18", suggesting that they are immune or above the risks associated with the virus.

The chorus emphasizes the carefree and indulgent atmosphere at Paradise Hotel, where they have access to a hot tub and live a life of luxury. Jon humorously replaces the use of hand sanitizer with Jägermeister, a popular alcoholic beverage. The lyrics suggest that, in this carefree environment, there are no boundaries, and even if you are a Swedish influencer, you can join them for a month-long stay with a party-loving guy from Skåne (a region in Sweden).

In summary, the lyrics of "Hotel" portray a rebellious and defiant attitude towards the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jon and his companions choose to prioritize pleasure and escapism, disregarding the criticisms and risks associated with their actions. The song embodies a desire for freedom and a rejection of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, presenting a narrative that focuses on living life to the fullest despite the circumstances.

His voice is smooth like butter & his eyes are blue as the Pacific Ocean. I watched this show growing up; I don’t think I saw this episode😉🌺

@neiljohnson7914

Wrong! They are blue like the mediterenean

@alliccat5482

His voice was rich like chocolate. 🍫 And his eyes were some beautiful blue eyes. I could get swept away in both. He was taken away much too soon. Leaving us only memories of the Beautiful Man he was, inside and out. 🌊💙

Thank you for putting this up ( even though it's a edited version) I remember seeing this particular episode with my dad in the mid-eighties on TV! It's so nice to finally see it again. I never forgot this. especially since Emma and Jon-Erik really did fall in love and got together in real life! Nice! Like a real fairy tale come true! :)

@clicktock

This should be on HITS. I had forgotten how I love this show. I used to watch it every week. I rediscovered this through a link after searching for great photos of Jon-Erik Hexum online. He's my style icon. This all began with a Facebook post on Vogue Hommes about the comeback of the mullet. I said that the best mullet in the 1980s is Jon-Erik Hexum's. So true. He makes mullets look good!

@TheNewsAnchorYouTrust

💝🎉🍀🌞 So charming. Why can't it be like that. I miss the 1980s and the people back then.

@Voyagersguidebook

This looks so wonderfully clear!! I can't wait to get it from netflix. I would buy it, but I really can't see myself owning one season of a series that ran for at least 8 more just for one episode. Say, now that you put up these, maybe I should take down mine? But the dark contrast of the taped version stuck on me! LOL. My favorite scene, where he meets her in the florist shop, and the sweet music. I love it!

Jon Eric Hexum would have been a big star
