Hey Ya’ll! I’m a Worship Pastor at Christ’s Church of Oronogo. I’m married to my best friend, Megan. Some things I really really like are the St. Louis Cardinals, Coffee Shops and all that they include, music, songwriting and Food. Seriously…all of it! I grew up playing sports and resenting the idea that I would ever be involved in ministry, but the Lord opened my eyes to all that ministry can be…Now, here I am!

I enjoy Jesus Christ so much! That’s the number one thing I want everyone I meet to know. The Lord saved me July 9th, 2002, at a CIY Move Summer Conference. It was there that I knew I would be playing drums all for His glory, and it was there that I was called out of sin, into Life. I started playing drums when I was 11 years old, and started worshiping God through drumming when I was 16. Since then, I have had many opportunities to play with awesome brothers and sisters in worship bands all over the country. Though I love playing, my main passion is seeing people set free from the Enemy, and falling madly in love with Jesus and people all over the earth. I am short. I am 5′4″ and 127 lbs. I really enjoy eating fruits and vegetables, playing every sport, and eating Kashi products. However, I really hate Satan and Hydrogenated OIl. The end.

I was born and raised in the Joplin Missouri area and accepted Christ listening to an infomercial in my living room. I married the woman of my dreams, Kassie Johnson, on May 23rd, 2009. ( I recommend marriage…its fun! ) I love Jesus, Kassie, and Music in that order!

My musical career has been a long journey of trusting God, even when I thought it seemed like the worst idea ever, and learning to serve others before myself. It’s been a bumpy ride, but I wouldn’t change a bit of it! I serve a God who saved me from a lifetime of serving myself, fall more in love with my wonderful wife every day, and get paid to play music with the best of friends…how much better of an outcome could I have asked for? I’m from Texas and I’m super proud of it, though most of my friends here in Missouri think I just came fresh off the boat from Japan.

Although I’m a southwest boy at heart, Joplin, MO is definitely the place I call home. I really love the whole hiking, camping, spelunking, exploring thing. I like throwing the frisbee and just about anything to get me out in the sun. I’ve pretty much always loved music. God has been relentlessly reminding me over the last several years what amazing opportunities music can provide to show His love and grace. I have been blessed beyond measure up to this point and I can’t tell you how excited I am for what the future holds!

You're all I need
This battle's raging inside of me
God all I know
Are my selfish ones
Come fill me with your selfless love
Move me, like a fire God
Prove me, to be yours God
I'm standing here
Eyes fixed on you
God give me your heart
To love like you
Move me, like a fire God
Prove me, to be yours God
Use me for you kingdom's cause
Move me, like a fire God
Prove me, to be yours God
Use me for your kingdom's cause
I will not be shaken
You will not abandon me
All my strength it comes from you
I will not be shaken
You will not abandon me
All my strength it comes from you
I will not be shaken
You will not abandon me
All my strength it comes from you
We sing
I will not be shaken
You will not abandon me
All my strength it comes from you
Move me, like a fire God
Prove me, to be yours God
Use me for your kingdom's cause
Move me, like a fire God
Prove me, to be yours God
Use me for your kingdom's cause.
The Jordan Howerton Band's song "Move Me" is a plea to God to fill the singer with his love and use him for his kingdom's cause. The lyrics express the internal battle that the singer is going through, where he acknowledges his own selfish desires, but desires to be moved by God's love and to serve his purposes. The repetition of the phrases "Move me like a fire God, prove me to be yours God, use me for your kingdom's cause" express the singer's yearning for God to not only fill him with his love, but to also use him in a powerful way to impact the world around him.
The singer's resolve is strengthened as he declares that he will not be shaken and that all his strength comes from God. The repetitiveness of the lyrics suggests a deep desire to be fully enveloped in God's love and to be used by him, while also acknowledging the difficulty of surrendering one's own desires and allowing God to take over.
Overall, the song "Move Me" is a powerful expression of the desire to be filled with God's love and to be used by him for his kingdom's cause, despite the internal struggle that can arise in the process.
