Guts
Jordan Velez Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You′ve got guts, kid
But bad luck, kid
Who is it that makes you tumble?
What do you see in her, that makes you crumble?
It must be her perfection, or her complexion
Either way your heart still rumbles
She sits upon a bed, with a needle and thread
Testing your patience so greatly

You gave her your heart, you gave her your soul
You gave her everything that made you whole
And when all is said and done, you're still with no one
You′re just left talkin' to yourself

She deserves so much better than this
How her hair, it reacts to the wind
And her smile can brighten the darkest of days
Too bad she'll never know that i felt this way

As i play these strings on my guitar
And i sing these words of sorrow

She shows no remorse
And now our plans have fallen, way off course

Overall Meaning

In Jordan Velez's song Guts, the lyrics describe a person who has strong determination and courage, but continuously faces bad luck. They are deeply infatuated with someone who they believe is perfect and faultless, causing their heart to race and their emotions to tumble. The person they are attracted to is seen testing their patience with a needle and thread while sitting on a bed, but despite this, the person gives them their heart, soul, and everything that makes them complete. However, in the end, they are left with nothing but talk to themselves as the person they love shows no remorse for their actions that have led to their plans falling off course.

These lyrics portray a relatable situation that many people have been through, where someone falls for another who may not reciprocate the same feelings. Despite giving their all, they are left feeling empty and alone, questioning why they put themselves in such a vulnerable position. The use of imagery in the lyrics, such as the needle and thread, help create a visual representation of the emotions and actions taking place in the song.

I find it interesting that some people are suggesting to "go get your bloating checked out by a doctor." I've had severe bloating since high school, now I'm in my thirties. I've seen SO MANY doctors, specialists, and naturopaths, and most of them simply suggest a low FODMAP diet and order a SIBO test (I'm negative). I eat a low FODMAP diet, meditate, exercise, cut out processed sugar and caffeine, get plenty of sleep. I still bloat to look like I'm 7 months pregnant. Where are these magical doctors who people know of that can diagnose and solve someone's bloating?

My bloating gave me huge anxiety about how others perceived me, and the anxiety increased as every doctor I met with couldn't help me.

Rather than continue to stress over it and worry about my gut health, I've realized that not everything can be solved. I will practice my healthy habits, but these types of videos are hugely helpful for girls and women who do experience bloating and who suffer high anxiety about it. People who do not experience this may think it's an easy fix and is unwise to normalize through social media, but this video is so inspiring to me.

Also really if anyone has information about specific doctors, websites, resources that can reduce or stop extreme bloating (and not just general doctor types like GI specialist, endocrinologist, acupuncturist, naturopath, etc), please share.

I love this video - thank you for helping so many girls and women ❤

I posted a poll to my IG story (@breeelenehan) asking if you also experience bloating & body changes from morning VS night… and 95% of you voted yes. Leave a “🙋‍♀️” in the comments if you’re also one of those people.

Even as a “slim” person, my belly is never flat or covered in abs when I relax, not even at the start of the day. I always have a lil bump at the bottom of my tummy, and that continues to grow across the day.

This is something that I was always so ashamed of, something we were taught to “fix”, but bloating happens for all sorts of reasons, here are just a few:
🍱 the food you eat takes up space & releases gases while being digested
🧂 salty foods cause water retention
🩸 that time of the month causes changes in progesterone & estrogen levels which causes the body to retain more water & salt
🌬 swallowing air, eating too fast, reflux, drinking fizzy drinks, constipation, or more serious conditions like IBS, coeliac disease, food allergies/intolerances, excess intestinal gas, etc.

Our human body does SO much for us. Bloating is just one way it responds to the above listed things. It’s so very common, but it’s not always normal, if your bloating is extreme and/or causes you pain or discomfort, please speak with a doctor. Looking after your health is so important.

But either way, you should never be unkind to yourself for eating & noticing your body change across the day. You should never feel bad because you have a tummy full of vital organs!! You need food & fat on your body to survive. It’s not the enemy, it’s energy!

I’m just leaving this here as a reminder to be kind to your ever-changing body & to all my “gut health” girlies who don’t always know if their gut is actually doin’ ok, what triggers these changes or why their belly changes so much, you’re not alone! 😅

It’s okay if you don’t like what you see, but I hope you know you’re good enough!! 💗 xxx

Just a quick note. Yes people get bloated and that is normal, but the extent that I'm seeing in these videos is not the norm. Please make sure your gut health is ok, take some probiotics as well as maybe trying to cut out some foods that could be causing inflammation. Gut health is VERY IMPORTANT. It is probably one of the most overlooked things even though now it is getting a bit more attention. So please check up on that.
Edit: After reading some comment I feel like people misunderstood what I was saying. I'm not saying that it's ok to be rude to people with bloat whether it be natural or disease caused. I don't know this creators life and I don't pretend to. I have a decent knowledge of medical knowledge as I am currently I'm medical school to become a doctor, but I am not a doctor yet so take my advice with a grain of salt and if you are concerned go to a real doctor. If you have a noticeably large bloat that is uncomfortable go get checked out, it could be an issue. If not then congrats, but many times I see people who don't take care of their gut biome with many bloating issues and this can be fixed with simple dietary changes. That is all I'm saying, whether this creator got checked out and is fine or not is none of my concern. I was making a comment for people who watch this and may face a similar situation. It's never a bad thing to try and figure out your health, especially if it is causing discomfort. Also, yes, women get more bloat because of hormones that is "normal" as in that is an accurate response for the body to have to fluctuations. Even then you could have a disregulation in your hormones.
Like I said, these are things I've seen in my experience as a student. There is nothing wrong with going to the doctors if you are worried.

Are you a doctor? Or a dietician or nutritionlist. I have ibs and I do all these things and I STILL get bloated, sometimes it is unavoidable. Stop being the problem

@kimberlyjennings618

🙌🏻🙌🏻

@maramsalim9349

True. I avoided this problem, month ago they found couple of problems in my colon and I needed to have a surgery

@kdemarco2010

@da room exactly! That's their point. You have IBS and so it is reasonable to have a little bit more excessive bloating. Maybe she does have IBS or some type of gut issue that she doesn't speak on but it's absolutely reasonable for people to say hey, this is what I've experienced or this is what I know to be true and I'm concerned for your help have you thought of this or have you looked into this. It's not rude to worry that something could possibly be wrong. In all reality is a caring statement that this person made. No need to get angry or be rude. They aren't "the problem."

@xxliaz9068

Some ppl just bloat a lot my Drs said it’s nothing to really worry about cause a lot of different food can cause bloating not to mention IBS can be a big part of it

If your gut doubles in volume over the course of a day, CONSIDER A DOCTOR'S VISIT

@@mbaartjie2255it can be a sign of a lot of things like infection, inflammation and ruptured tissue to name a few
