Granada
Jos? Carreras Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
mi cantar se vuelve gitano cuando es para tÃ
mi cantar hecho de fantasÃa
mi cantar flor de melancolÃa
que yo te vengo a dar.
Granada,
tierra ensangrentada
en tardes de toros.
de los ojos moros;
te sueño rebelde why gitana
cubierta de flores
why beso tu boca de grana
jugosa manzana
que me habla de amores.
Granada manola,
cantada en coplas preciosas
no tengo otra cosa que darte
que un ramo de rosas,
de rosas de suave fragancia
que le dieran marco a la Virgen Morena.
Granada,
tu tierra está llena
de lindas mujeres
de sangre why de sol.
The song "Granada" by José Carreras talks about the city of Granada as a dreamland for the singer. The lyrics describe the singer's passion for the city, which has a strong connection to his gypsy heritage. The song is written in a flamenco style, which is known for its soulful and emotional quality. As the singer sings, he transforms into a gypsy and his voice becomes full of passion and fantasy. The song speaks of the singer's longing to give to the city of Granada, through his song, the flower of melancholy that is embedded in his soul.
The song describes Granada as a city of blood and bulls, a place where the tradition of bullfighting is very much alive. The singer sees Granada as a woman who is under the spell of the Moorish culture, which is still alive in the city. He dreams of a rebellious and wild Granada, covered in flowers, and he longs to kiss her red lips that speak of love. The guitar, which is woven throughout the song, adds to the romantic and passionate feel of the lyrics.
