No One
Joydrop Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I remember every single word said to me
I realize the meaning of love
Is a place away and above
The limitations of my being
I'll wait for you, come to me again
No one who took the time
To understand my stone cold point of view
The self destruct shadow
And how pain turns to truth
Wait for it, wait for the drop
Feel the size, the weight
And the distance from eye to cheek
I know too well that I depend on
Sensory memory cravings for time
Timeless stood in our white heat
In the song No One by Joydrop, the singer reminisces about a past love and the impact it had on them. The lyrics express a deep appreciation and longing for their former partner, acknowledging that no one has understood them as well since. The first verse focuses on the beauty and significance of the words that were once spoken to the singer, highlighting the immense impact it had on them. The second verse talks about the limitations of the singer's own being and how love transcends those boundaries. The chorus stresses the idea that there is no one else for the singer after their former partner, who took the time to understand them and shared a unique experience.
The third verse alludes to the physical and emotional connection between the two, mentioning a drop and the distance between eye and cheek. The lyrics then delve into the singer's own dependency on sensory memory, and how even when time has passed, they still desire to relive that experience. The song ends with the repetition of "timeless stood in our white heat," emphasizing the enduring nature of their love.

I know Joydrop wasn't the most famous band around and this wasn't their most popular song, but I'm surprised this video has zero comments until now. This song constantly pops into my head - one of my favs by them.
