Monument
Jr Ewing Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In devoids of blackness
On days like this
Two hundred and ten yesterdays to go
On lonely summerdays of my everything
And a selective hourglass is like those days...
Of neverending you
A monument of counting seconds
Covered in white snow
And it seems to be the one and only
True means of solace
And so shall nails sing songs to me
In Jr Ewing's song "Monument," the lyrics convey a sense of melancholy and longing for a past relationship. The first line, "And so shall nails fester coffins," creates a dark and eerie atmosphere, suggesting that death is a constant reminder of the past. The following line, "In devoids of blackness," strengthens this imagery and suggests that the singer is trapped in a state of darkness and despair.
The next line, "On days like this," sets the stage for a flashback to a past relationship. The line "Two hundred and ten yesterdays to go" suggests that the singer is counting down the days until they can move on from the past. The following line, "On lonely summerdays of my everything," further emphasizes the singer's sense of loss and isolation.
The line "And a selective hourglass is like those days…of never-ending you" suggests that time seems to stop when the singer thinks of their past love. The following lines, "A monument of counting seconds, Naked pictures of letters, Covered in white snow, And it seems to be the one and only, True means of solace," suggest that the singer has built a monument to the past and finds comfort in this memorialization. The final line, "And so shall nails sing songs to me," reinforces the idea that the past continues to haunt the singer.

I love how Lucy broke down when she sees Bobby. Even though in the series she hated J.R. She did grow up with him around and lived under the same roof. He was still family to her in the end, he was still her uncle. We don't always like our family members, but we still love them because they are family, and only we truly understand them, and in the end, we love them despite all their faults.

@Tricia Johansen yes Tilton was super fond of hangman so alot in that scene I believe was her as herself not in character. Tilton wasn't the best actress anyhow but def had a likeability about her.

Charlene Tilton ADORED her "Uncle Larry" and hated JR!❤

I truly loved this episode except for how Bobby treated Ray at the memorial service. They were always more like brothers than Bobby and J.R. were.

2:33 "I CAME TO PAY MY DISRESPECTS, AND GOOD RIDDANCE!!"
Oh boy, Cliff really thought he had the last word over his arch-nemesis, yet he later ends up getting outsmarted once again by J.R from beyond the grave. Still, no doubt the chaos that transpires here is exactly what J.R would have wanted.

Well this was a call back to a scene from the 1st season of the revival series. When JR and Cliff meet again for the first times in years, JR tells Cliff that he will be dancing on his grave, although Cliff outlived JR
