Verdrukking hongersnood pyn
Daar's niemand soos my Jesus
Daar's niemand soos my Jesus
Daar's niemans soos my Jesus nie
Daar's niemand soos my Jesus
Daar's niemand soos my Jesus
Daar's niemans soos my Jesus nie
Kyk Hy kom
Kyk Hy kom
Kyk Hy kom
Kyk Hy kom
The lyrics of Juanita Du Plessis's song "Kyk Hy Kom" speak of the return of Jesus Christ and the end times as prophesized in the Bible. The song recalls the days of the prophets Elijah, Moses, and Jesus and the wonders they performed with the power of God. The lyrics encourage perseverance and faith in the face of war, oppression, hunger, and pain - and the promise of hope and salvation. The song speaks of the coming of the kingdom of God and the imminent return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead. The voice of God is heard summoning the faithful to repent and turn towards Him. The song acknowledges the inevitability of death, but promises resurrection with power and glory when Jesus returns.
Interestingly, "Kyk Hy Kom" is a cover of the world-famous Hillsong song "Mighty to Save," which is sung in English. The song was translated into Afrikaans by Johan Vorster and Cindy van Wyk. The original Hillsong song was written by Ben Fielding and Reuben Morgan and was released in 2006 on their "Mighty to Save" album. The song quickly became a hit and is still considered one of the most popular Christian songs of all time. Juanita du Plessis's version of the song was released in 2009 on her album "Jy Voltooi My."
