The band's membership has seen much turnover, including a revolving cast of drummers in the 1970s and the departure of singer Rob Halford in 1992. Tim "Ripper" Owens, formerly of Winter's Bane, replaced Halford in 1996 and recorded two albums with Judas Priest, before Halford returned to the band in 2003. The current line-up consists of Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis. The band's best-selling album is 1982's Screaming for Vengeance, with their most commercially successful line-up featuring Ian Hill, Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, guitarist K. K. Downing, and drummer Dave Holland. Tipton and Hill are the only two members of the band to appear on every album.
Halford's operatic vocal style and the twin guitar sound of Downing and Tipton have been a major influence on heavy metal bands. Judas Priest's image of leather, spikes, and other taboo articles of clothing were widely influential during the glam metal era of the 1980s. The Guardian referred to British Steel as the record that defines heavy metal. Despite a decline in exposure during the mid-1990s, the band has once again seen a resurgence, including worldwide tours, being inaugural inductees into the VH1 Rock Honors in 2006, receiving a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2010, and having their songs featured in video games such as Guitar Hero and the Rock Band series. In 2022, Judas Priest were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Come and Get It
Judas Priest Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Do you love it mean?
Do you want it dirty?
We don't play it clean
Standing in the spotlight
Ceiling to the floor
I can see you rockin'
Turn it up
Tear it down
Hammering through, can you feel the sound?
Any day, any night
Midnight madness, dynamite
If you want it
Come and get it
Do you want it?
Come and get it
Can you feel the power?
Blinded by the light
Keep on goin' crazy
Burnin' up the night
Shouting out together
Boiling like the sun
Metal lives forever
Blazing on and on
Turn it up
Tear it down
Hammering through, can you feel the sound?
Any day, any night
Midnight madness, dynamite
If you want it
Come and get it
Do you want it?
Come and get it
Do you like it heavy?
Do you love it loud?
Do you want it?
Come and get it
If you want it
Come and get it
Do you want it?
Come and get it
Do you want it?
Come and get it
Do you want it?
Come and get it
If you want it
Come and get it
Do you want it?
Come and get it
The song "Come and Get It" by Judas Priest is an anthem to the heavy metal genre. The lyrics are straightforward and direct, appealing to the listeners' desire for heavy, mean, and dirty music that wouldn't play clean. The song's opening lines, "Do you like it heavy, do you love it mean, do you want it dirty, we don't play it clean," make it clear that the song is all about the raw and unadulterated power of heavy metal music.
The song's chorus, "If you want it, come and get it, do you want it, come and get it," is a call to action, a challenge to the listeners to embrace the power of heavy metal and indulge in the music's wildness. The lyrics repeatedly insist that the music should be played loud and hard, with no restraint. The line "metal lives forever, blazing on and on" reinforces the genre's timelessness and its ability to inspire fans for generations.
Overall, "Come and Get It" is an energizing and empowering song that celebrates the power and appeal of heavy metal music. The song's simple, direct lyrics reflect the essence of the genre, and the music's driving beat and soaring guitar solos make it impossible not to be swept up in the music's intensity.

Yes it's an old tune and many people thought this was a new release. But that's good, it means Priest is still bringing in new people to the world of Metal. That's great, Metal will never die.
