The Northern Norwegian band
Judith is a hybrid of four young men from Northern Norway with a different set of musical influences.
It is all rock - could be emo, could be stoner, or more popishlike rock - but the sound is all Judith. Will be avalible on last.fm by the end of 2006.
The American goth rock band
Christopher David made face with Requiem in White throughout the early '90s, making himself one of goth rock's rising stars around his native New York City. By 1995, he hooked up with bass player Damian James and drummer Brian Veit for a new project, a darkwave experimental group they called Judith. They made their debut that April at CBGB annual event, Night of Misanthropy, and Judith's first album Föhn was out by December. Since goth rock was still cult and fan-based throughout America, Judith challenged European audiences. Judith's infectious post-punk sound of lush choruses, heavy bass lines, and worldbeat percussion was strikingly similar to the likes of Die Krupps and Rosetta Stone. A deal with Neue Aesthetik was set by 1998 and Judith issued the beautiful chaos of La Reveuse. Monica Richards and William Faith of Faith & the Muse invited Judith to play the Blackout A.D. tour in 1999; this was Judith's first major tour of North America and dates in the U.K. and Germany followed the next summer. Having spent the latter '90s on the road and recording, David, James, and Veit took a well-deserved break before writing for a third album. Play of Light was issued in fall 2001.

Zij kreeg landelijke bekendheid toen zij in 2000 het RTL 4-programma Your Big Break won. You, Love Me, nummers van Kate Bush, en andere werken.

Andy Warhol
Judith Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's, it's Warhol actually
(What did I say)
Whole, it's whole as in wholes
(Andy Warhol)
Wah, Andy War hol, Andy War hol (he)
Like whole hub
He
Are you ready
(Yeah)
Ha ha ha ha ha ha
Like to take a cement fix
Be a standing cinema
Dress my friends up just for show
See them as they really are
Put a peephole in my brain
Two New Pence to have a go
I'd like to be a gallery
Put you all inside my show
Andy Warhol looks a scream
Hang him on my wall
Andy Warhol, Silver Screen
Can't tell them apart at all
Andy walking, Andy tired
Andy take a little snooze
Tie him up when he's fast asleep
Send him on a pleasant cruise (hm hm hm)
When he wakes up on the sea
He sure to think of me and you
He'll think about paint and he'll think about glue
What a jolly boring thing to do
Andy Warhol looks a scream
Hang him on my wall
Andy Warhol, Silver Screen
Can't tell them apart at all
Andy Warhol looks a scream
Hang him on my wall
Andy Warhol, Silver Screen
Can't tell them apart at all
The song "Andy Warhol" by Judith is a playful tribute to the famous artist and pop culture icon of the 1960s. The song starts off with a playful banter between the singer and someone who mistakenly called him "Andy Warhole". This sets the tone for the light-hearted and whimsical lyrics that follow.
The first verse talks about taking a "cement fix" and being a "standing cinema", which could be interpreted as a reference to Warhol's experiments with film and his fascination with media and celebrity. The lyrics then mention dressing up friends "just for show" and seeing them as they really are, which could be a commentary on Warhol's work with portraits and his interest in the idea of authenticity and artifice. The line about putting a "peephole in my brain" and charging "two New Pence to have a go" could be interpreted as a playful reference to Warhol's voyeuristic tendencies and his interest in the commodification of art.
The chorus is a catchy repetition of the lines "Andy Warhol looks a scream, Hang him on my wall", which could be seen as a nod to Warhol's status as a cultural icon and the way his art became a shorthand for the avant-garde in the 1960s. The lyrics also refer to Warhol as a "Silver Screen" and suggest that he can't be distinguished from the celebrities he depicted in his work.
Overall, "Andy Warhol" by Judith is a fun and playful tribute to one of the most influential and enigmatic artists of the 20th century.
Line by Line Meaning
It's, it's Warhol actually
I made an error in calling him Warhole. It's Warhol, Andy Warhol, the artist.
Whole, it's whole as in wholes
I want to correct my previous misspeak by emphasizing that his name is spelled like 'whole', as in including everything in art.
Like to take a cement fix
I find solace in repairing broken things, just as cement can fix cracks.
Be a standing cinema
I want to be a fixed part of the larger picture, like a movie theater screen or static artwork within the art culture.

I want to showcase my friends, even though it may not reflect their true selves, but I am interested in how they can look when used for my art.

I want to change the way I look at things, by creating an opening to explore new perspectives and ideas.
Two New Pence to have a go

Andy Warhol, Silver Screen
Warhol's creations, such as his polaroid photographs, evoke silver-toned color schemes.
Can't tell them apart at all
I struggle to differentiate between Warhol's creations and reality, blurring the line between art and everyday life.
Andy walking, Andy tired
Although Warhol is an artist, he is still human and grows weary like anyone else.
Andy take a little snooze
Warhol needs rest, like anyone else, but his status and fame cause others to have different expectations of him.
Tie him up when he's fast asleep
In an ironic way, being famous strips Warhol of his control and agency, as others view him as a commodity to be contained and controlled.
Send him on a pleasant cruise
I wish Warhol could take a break from the pressure of being an artist and enjoy a relaxing vacation.
When he wakes up on the sea
After waking up in such an unexpected environment, Warhol would surely experience a shock to his artist senses.
He sure to think of me and you
In those moments of disorientation and vulnerability, Warhol might think of his fans and supporters, including myself.
He'll think about paint and he'll think about glue
Even when he's not creating physical pieces, Warhol's mind is naturalistically drawn to materials and the process of art-making.
What a jolly boring thing to do
In a way, Warhol's life as an artist can be both exhausting and monotonous, particularly in how others view him and his work.
