Dil aaj kal paas rehta nahi
Ye tujhse hi milne ko chaahe
Ye teri hi karta hai baatein
Kya tum ho.
Kya tum ho wohi
Kya tum ho.
Dil aaj kal meri sunta nahi
Dil aaj kal.
Dil aaj kal meri sunta nahi
Dil aaj kal.
Teri aankhon ke raste ye
Chale jaata hai
Jo bulaaun main
Kabhi laut aata nahi
Bekhabar ye zamaane se
Takraata hai
Bedhadak mujhse kehta hai
Main hoon yunhi
Ye tujhse hi milke hua hai
Jo teri nazar ne chhuaa hai
Kya tum ho.
Kya tum ho wohi
Kya tum ho.
Kya tum ho wohi
Dil aaj kal meri sunta nahi
Dil aaj kal.
Dil aaj kal meri sunta nahi
Dil aaj kal.
Hai hunar ek naya isko
Tujhse mila
Muskura ke ye milta hai
Sabse abhi
Aadhi raaton mein mujhko ye
Deta utha
Mujhse pooche ye raatein kyun
Kat te nahi
Ye tujhse hi milne ko chahe
Ye teri hi karta hai baatein
Kya tum ho.
Kya tum ho wohi
Kya tum ho.
Kya tum ho wohi
Dil aaj kal meri sunta nahi
Dil aaj kal.
Dil aaj kal meri sunta nahi
Dil aaj kal.
The song Dil Aaj Kal is a soulful melody by KK that revolves around the theme of unrequited love. The lyrics portray the pain and longing of a person who is deeply in love with someone, but is not able to express it or receive any response in return. The first stanza establishes this idea with the lines "Dil aaj kal meri sunta nahi, Dil aaj kal paas rehta nahi". The person's heart doesn't listen to them, and it stays away from them.
The following stanzas talk about how this person's feelings for the other remain despite the lack of reciprocity. They yearn to be with the person they love and are constantly searching for ways to be close with them. The lines "Ye tujhse hi milne ko chaahe, Ye teri hi karta hai baatein" indicate that everything this person does is in hope of meeting and impressing the person they love. The refrain "Kya tum ho, kya tum ho wohi?" is an open question that expresses this person's constant curiosity and desire to know if the person they love feels the same way about them.
Overall, Dil Aaj Kal is a beautiful portrayal of unrequited love that captures the pain, longing, and hope of someone who loves deeply but is unable to receive the same in return.
