They were known here, I think they had a few minor hits, most people I know who are into rock know club foot. I think Sony stopped/refused to market them in the US around 2009 (not sure why, maybe prior sale or maybe just to focus on Europe?) but a few of their songs made it into US sports leagues and video games so they are a thing here, just not as big as they are in the U.K.
