In March 2009, her self-released debut album, Take to the Sky, reached the Top 20 on the Billboard magazine jazz chart. Way Down Low was released in 2012, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Her third album, The Big Picture, was released on September 30, 2014.
"You see a show like the one Kat Edmonson put on Tuesday night at Scullers, and you wonder what the heck people are doing at Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry concerts. Really, the world is unjust... Edmonson, a petite singer from Austin, Texas, is at once a throwback and a pioneer. Her intimate vocal style and stage presence recall the heyday of jazz
- she has the expressiveness of Billie Holiday, the elegance of Ella Fitzgerald, and the voice of Blossom Dearie. Yet she doesn't merely retread standards. Sure, she likes her Cole Porter, but she and her pianist/arranger, Kevin Lovejoy, molded and modernized chestnuts like "Just One of Those Things," "Night and Day," and "It's All Right With Me" into entirely fresh tunes with new harmonies, inventive rhythm structures, and sometimes mysterious undertones.
Edmonson has grown quite comfortable inside these songs, taking even more liberties with them than she did on her recent CD, Take to the Sky, which stands among the best records of 2009. Like Holiday, Edmonson likes to sing just behind the beat, which infuses her demure voice with drama and heartbreak.
Kat Edmonson is a great jazz singer.
One Fine Day
Kat Edmonson Lyrics

And you will know our love was meant to be
One fine day you're gonna want me for your girl
These arms I long for will open wide
And then you'll want to have me by your side
One fine day you're gonna want me for your girl
I keep waiting and someday darling you'll come to me
When you wanna settle down
One fine day we'll meet once more
And then you'll want the love you threw away before
One fine day you're gonna want me for your girl
Oh, I know you're the kind of boy who only wants to run around
I keep waiting so someday darling you'll come to me
When you wanna settle down
One fine day we'll meet once more
And then you'll want the love you lost before
One fine day you're gonna want me
One fine day you're gonna want me
One fine day you're gonna want me for your girl
In Kat Edmonson's song "One Fine Day," the lyrics describe a woman who longs for the love of a man who she believes will come back to her one day. The lyrics are filled with hope and optimism, as she believes that this man will eventually realize that their love was meant to be. The song opens with the line "One fine day you'll look at me, and you will know our love was meant to be," indicating that the woman has a deep conviction that their love is inevitable.
Throughout the song, the woman sets up a series of scenarios where the man will finally realize that he wants her for his girl. These scenarios include her arms opening wide for his embrace, and him wanting to settle down and start a life with her. However, the woman is aware that the man is the type of boy who likes to run around and is not ready to settle down yet, but she still holds out hope that he will come back to her one day.
The song's lyrics are optimistic and filled with hope, representing the woman's unwavering belief that their love is fated to be. Despite the man's reluctance to commit, she believes that he will eventually see the light and come back to her. The song serves as an ode to the power of love and the hope that it can bring, even in the face of adversity.
