Jenkins was born in Neath, Wales, where she and her sister Laura were raised by their parents Selwyn John (1924–1995) and Susan. She has twin half-sisters from her father's first marriage, neither of whom she has met.
Six out of seven of Jenkins's studio albums reached number one in the classical charts between 2004 and 2008, selling a total of more than 4 million copies. After her first album, Premiere, made her the fastest-selling mezzo-soprano to date she became the first British classical crossover artist to have two number one albums in the same year. She is also the first female artist to win two consecutive Classical BRIT Awards: her second album, Second Nature, reached number 16 in the UK pop charts and was Album of the Year in the 2005 BRIT Awards.
On Sunday 25th November 2007, Katherine Jenkins' new album 'Rejoice' entered the 'Official UK Album Chart' at number 3. Katherine beat off stiff competition from the likes of Girls Aloud, Led Zeppelin, Spice Girls, Take That and Celine Dion.

Lì tutti vivono in pace e onestà
Io sogno d'anime che sono sempre libere
Come le nuvole che volano
Pien d'umanità in fondo all'anima
Pien d'umanità in fondo all'anima
The lyrics to Katherine Jenkins' "Nella Fantasia" speak of a world that exists only in the imagination, but one that is hopeful and beautiful. In this world, there is justice, peace, and honesty among all people. The singer dreams of free souls that are unencumbered by any social, political, or emotional restrictions.
The imagery used to describe this world is also very telling. The clouds are likened to free spirits that soar above all boundaries, human or otherwise. The warmth of the wind blowing through cities is seen as a healing balm, and an invitation to friendship with one's fellowman. These images paint a picture of a place that is pure, honest, and unencumbered by negativity. It is a place where the soul can soar, free and unafraid.
The song is a beautiful tribute to the power of imagination and the human spirit. Its message of hope and freedom is one that resonates with people all over the world. It reminds us that no matter how difficult life may seem at times, there is always a place within ourselves where we can find peace, honesty, and freedom.
