(based on the movie Edward Scissorhands)

Cthing D7sus4 Dm
Chorus: Edward, I am dancing in your snow
G Am
Even though you cannot see me tonight
Dm Bb
As the light and fragile crystals
D7sus4 G
Touch the lines upon my face
D7sus4 G
And melt among the tears
D7sus4 G
I'm dancing here for you
D7sus4 G
In spite of all my fears
Dm G Gstuff G
The love has seen me through
Cthing other-chord
I am dancing here for you

Am
You were a hollow look
Dm
With horror in your hands
Bb
You were a magic mind
Dm
With art at your command
Am
You were an innocent
Dm
With all the lessons still to learn
Bb
You went away from me
D7sus4 G Gthing
I know you never can return

You wore your cookie heart
Upon your sleeve for me
I started trembling when
You finally let me see
You were a shining knight
With gentle soul and flashing steel
Until that winter night
When only rage was left to feel

And in my mind tonight
I see you climb the stair
I see your scissor-hands
Caress the ice with care
And as the crystal fragments
Melt upon the midnight skies
I'm dancing once again
With teardrops in my eyes

Overall Meaning

The song "Edward" by Kathy Mar is inspired by the character of Edward Scissorhands from the movie of the same name. The chorus expresses the idea of dancing in the snow for Edward despite the fact that he cannot see her. The fragile crystals are a metaphor for their delicate relationship, just like the line on her face. She is dancing for him despite her fears, and the love they share has seen them through.

The first verse of the song seems to be addressed to Edward. It describes him as a hollow look with horror in his hands, but also as a magic mind with art at his command. Edward is portrayed as an innocent with a lot to learn, but then he went away and cannot return. The second verse talks about the relationship between the singer and Edward. He wore his cookie heart on his sleeve, and the singer trembled when he finally let her see it. Edward is described as a shining knight with a gentle soul and flashing steel, until a winter night when only rage was left to feel. The last verse is about the singer's memory of Edward. She sees him climbing the stairs and caressing the ice with his scissor-hands. As the crystal fragments melt, she dances once again with teardrops in her eyes. This verse suggests that Edward is no longer present, but the singer's love for him remains.

Overall, "Edward" is a poignant tribute to the character of Edward Scissorhands, and also explores themes such as love, loss, and memory.
