Bastards
Ke$ha Lyrics

I got too many people (da da da da) I got left to prove wrong
All those motherfuckers (da da da da) been too mean for too long
And I'm so sick of crying, yeah
Darling, what's it for?
I could fight forever, oh, but life's too short
Don't let the assholes wear you out
Don't let the mean girls take the crown
Don't let the scumbags screw you 'round
Don't let the bastards take you down
Been underestimated my entire life
I know people gonna talk shit (da da da da), and darling, that's fine
But they won't break my spirit, I won't let 'em win
I'll just keep on living, keep on living, oh
The way I wanna live
Don't let the bastards get you down, oh no
Don't let the assholes wear you out
Don't let the mean girls take the crown
Don't let the scumbags screw you 'round
Don't let the bastards take you down
Don't let the bastards get you down, oh no
Don't let the assholes wear you out
Don't let the mean girls take your crown
Don't let the scumbags screw you 'round
Don't let the bastards take you down
Na na na, la da da da da da, na na hey, na na hey
Na na na, la da da da da da, na na hey, na na hey
Na na na, la da da da da da, na na hey, na na hey
Na na na, la da da da da da, na na hey, na na hey
So was that a good one?
Should we go again?
Ke$ha’s song “Bastards” is an uplifting anthem that encourages listeners to rise above the negativity and criticism of others. The opening lines indicate that the singer has many skeptics to prove wrong, and she’s tired of their constant negativity. She’s “so sick of crying” and wants to know what it’s all for. However, she acknowledges that she could fight indefinitely, but it’s not worth it because “life’s too short”.
The chorus then comes in with a strong message, urging listeners not to let the bastards get them down. The singer asserts that no matter how much people talk or try to bring her down, they won’t break her spirit. She plans to keep living the way she wants to live, not letting the negativity of others get in her way. The song finishes with an energizing repetition of these chorus lyrics.
Overall, “Bastards” is a song about resilience, self-acceptance, and rising above the negativity of others. Through the powerful lyrics and upbeat melody, Ke$ha encourages listeners to not let others dictate their self-worth or happiness. It’s a message that can resonate with anyone who has ever felt underestimated or doubted in their abilities.
