Twilight
Keith Wallen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I see someone in the mirror
But I don′t know who it is
And if I possess the power to change
I don't know where it is

Well who do you think you are?
I wonder
(Who? Who?)

I am just another miserable
Enigma
Nothing less and nothing more
Enigma

Well who do you think you are?
I wonder
Who do you think you are?
I wonder

So say a prayer for me now
Maybe you can shine in on my dark skies
So take good care of me now
I′ve got a ways to go here in this Twilight

(Who? Who?)

Why does it feel like I'm dying
To change who I am?
All of this silent defiance
I'll never understand
Why test on this man?

So say a prayer for me now
Maybe you can shine in on my dark skies
So take good care of me now
I′ve got a ways to go here in this Twilight

(Who? Who?)

Overall Meaning

In "Twilight," Keith Wallen sings about the struggle to understand oneself and the desire to change for the better. He starts by looking at himself in the mirror and not recognizing the person staring back at him, both physically and emotionally. He questions if he has the power to change and, if so, where that power comes from. He then asks himself, "Who do you think you are?" acknowledging that he feels lost and uncertain about who he is as a person.

As the chorus kicks in, Wallen expresses his vulnerability and asks for help, both from himself and from others. He asks for prayers and support from those around him to help him navigate the tricky path of self-discovery and change. This need for support is especially evident in the line, "So take good care of me now, I've got a ways to go here in this Twilight."
